Democracy.  The protest was the highlight of the weekend for me.  Felt so good to do something, anything.  and then to hang out for a few hours with 500 people.  I knew probably 20 that were there, before Saturday.  Know a few more now but mostly just acquaintances.  But it was community and it was real.  Lawn mowing, gardening, golfing just weren't quite as cool or engaging.  We chanted "This is what democracy looks like" and I believe it..  No masks, no combat fatigues, no zip ties, no angry words, no guns.  You outta try it.

And it continues on social media with vids from here and all over the country.  Asheville had 5000.  Boston, DC, SF, NYC, Columbus, Ann Arbor, Buffalo and 1300 other sites, millions more.  Comments from everywhere.  This is more grass roots than MAGA ever was and folks are very motivated.  Democracy will perservere.

Doesn’t appear like a market bottom is in site. Futures are 3% down. Worst route since Covid. I don’t imagine FOX will have tickers running this week. Trump will celebrate Zimbabwe negotiations. In a matter of 3 trading days we are approaching a Bear market from all time highs just weeks ago. Incredible. I’m 42 and the only comparable market events I saw to this was housing crash and Covid.

Friday i went to foxnews.com and searched the word “stock” and “market” on the front page. Came up empty.  Only story was about a positive jobs report.  Nothing about the market down 2k.  Everyone on the right is a programmed trump puppet.

If we just stopped at this moment and invested the losses at 75k per year salary we could create 66 million jobs.

Are we in the 25th Amendment territory? That’s a serious question as any sane president would not be celebrating the beauty of the loss of trillions of dollars of wealth from millions of Americans. He seems to be completely detached from reality.

Has China (not who he was talking about) been a good actor in this relationship?

And Reagan would be appalled at what’s happened to the formerly free countries he was referring to in that address.

And would by no means find our current imbalances and our own financial house anywhere near acceptable or sustainable.

nope.  Canada would still be good friends.  He knew that good friendships and good neighbors are invaluable.  agreed he wouldn't be happy with the deficit.  No one is.  But you are no Reagan R.  You're a trump cultist.  A follower of a manipulative demagogue that he warned about.  He's not going to help you.  It's every man for himself.  Sink or swim.  Not my preference but I'll play to win.  You?

French Business Leaders Reject President Macron’s Demand to Divest from USA

April 6, 2025

According to French media, quoting multiple corporate leaders and company directors throughout France , the leadership of France’s biggest companies told Macron to ‘get stuffed’ following the French president’s demand to divest their interests from America.

President Macron ordered 50 of the largest companies with positions in the USA to attend an emergency economic meeting at Elysée Palace. As reported by French media, “Some of us fell out of our chairs,” confided one of the 50 or so French business leaders invited.”

“We are not in an administered economy,” thunders the leader of an employers’ movement. And the CEO of a CAC 40 giant bluntly asserts: “I don’t give a damn about what Macron says. We have operations in the United States. There is no question of abandoning them just like that. We must respect our commitments to our employees, our customers and our shareholders.

The American consumer market is the most valuable consumer market in the world.  We do not have the largest population; however, we do have the largest population with the ability to purchase things.  It is the ability to buy stuff that makes access to the U.S. market the golden ticket for foreign company sales and profit.

Still? You sure about that? I mean before Trump, yes it was.

Now? With massive taxes?

I don't like a lot about these changes either, but some of you all have been creating threads and panic posts for ten days straight at all hours.  Are you all even sleeping at any point? Not healthy. Even if you are 100% against the tariffs, that is no way to live life.
