Running Back- whats the plan?

Right now we have Cook and Ty, both of I am fans of.  But Buffalo needs a short yardage back that can pass block.  If Cook gets injured, is Ty our #1 through the playoffs?  Running back FA contracts have been surprisingly large.  So who do you want as RB 2?  I want to see a major upgrade for Latavious

I want a short yardage thumper who is more than just a two carry a game guy if necessary. Low draft pick or cheap FA is fine.  In a perfect world, I’d like AJ Dillon, but not sure what that cost would be.

Dillion re-signed with the Packers yesterday, I believe.

Right now we have 3 RBs rostered. Cook, Johnson and Evans. I would add 2 more. One, a vet that can do the things Cook struggles with (pass blocking, ball security and sure hands out of the backfield with some short yardage push) and one in the late rounds of the draft. As good as Cook was last year, the fumbles and lack of pass blocking will have him off the field a bit if he doesn't improve. Plus, Id like to limit his touches a tad so he's not approaching 275-300 touches as the playoffs roll around.

Wait a bit and see how the FA RB market pans out. See what's left and sign the best one remaining to a minimum deal.

Gotta bring a powerback solid number 2 for a number of reasons along with potential injuries and depth needed.

Agree 100%. Cook wore down last season. We absolutely need a complimentary RB who can take a good bit of the load off of him.

There's no need to rush right now.

There's still a lot of veterans out there that could fill the RB2 role. Ezekiel Elliott, Kareem Hunt, Alexander Mattison, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, D'Onta Foreman, Cam Akers - one of these guys will be left without a chair when the music stops and will have to accept what they can get. Just be patient and get the best guy and deal you can get.

Braelon Allen and Audric Estime are two big bodied, powerful runners that we visited with at the Combine. I'm really high on Allen. If they can land one of them on Day 3, I'd pull the trigger.

Anything more than this is an over investment.

So if Cook is injured, then you are ok with Ty and a 6th round RB being our backfield for the playoffs?

Isaiah Davis from South Dakota State is an intriguing guy to me. He has good size at 6'0 218 and runs big, his forty time is average at 4.57 but think a good change of pace to Cook and who knows if puts time in could eventually start in this league.

I've kind of been liking Isaac Guarando from Louisville. Size (6' 221lbs), speed (4.33 40) and some athletic prowess (9.98 RAS).

Unfortunately, he destroyed it at the Combine and I'm seeing him some places projected in round 4, which is a bit higher than I'd want to take a RB this year

CEH and Brady have history

foreman could also play in a stretch if cook rolls an ankle

I suspect one of these two plus a day 3 pick while will fight with Ty for active roster vs practice squad

I would wait till after the draft to sign any FA RB. Draft one and sign some undrafted ones. If none pan out the way we want can sign another one post cutdown day. Grab a vet Safety and DT before worrying about the RB position.
