They will either get the best WR , DT or S that is still available on the board at that pick. If they do trade up they are going to have to leverage picks from next year. I don't think 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks are even bait to tempt a team to get into the teens this year to move up. I would agree that the Bills will pick BPA according to their board. However, I can’t imagine they have a S at #28. I think it is more like to be in this order of importance DT, Edge, WR. I would be shocked if the pick is not one of these three positions. Maybe they go S in round #2 only because they do not have a rd #3 pick. Keep in mind the safety “market” looks to be significantly devaluing across the league. Quote
mushypeaches Posted March 15 Posted March 15 We're going to sign a veteran safety at some point soon - that way Beane can fully hedge his bets in the draft Especially since there's a lot of unsigned guys out there that at some point, the prices will start to come down Heck - even Hyde might decide to come back and can be had at a relatively low price That way, they can draft a safety in the middle rounds and ease him into dime looks and ST to start Quote

Realistically the Bills must jump Cincy and trade with Jacksonville @17. The chart says the Bills would have to give 28, 60 and a 4th this year and next. It’s not guaranteed but it would be less costly than going after MHJ or Odunze. Or we sit at 28 and hope Mitchell falls to us which is also unlikely. I just don't want to settle for Franklin, Coleman or Leggette in the 2nd round. I think Thomas would be worth it. But in life nothings guaranteed! Quote

You can split him out Wide from time to time, but he's not a guy you can exclusively play there. So the Bills basically have all slot receivers... even Kincaid was drafted saying he'd run in the slot. And at this point in his career, even Diggs might be better off in the slot 😅 Quote

We still need a #2 WR but we could argue that Safety, DT, DE are more pressing issues since the signing of Samuel. The AFC is an on-slaught of talent in the passing game with all QB's and WR's. We all know who these guys are so no need to mention them now. RAPP as our S#1 position needs to prove his value, no stupid penalties or illegal hits head hunting this year. He has a huge responsibility on D playing back there for the entire season, since he is now starter # 1 of the 2 we need for 2024, and is signed on a new 3 year deal. Poyer was the hammer back there for us, and he was not afraid to lay the smack down on anyone that was around him. Hyde was the more coverage strategic oriented player of the two. I still think we need a #1 S on this team. The premium choices from the draft are Nubin, Bullard, Kinchens, Hicks ot Bullock. I can see a few of these guys still being there realistically at #28, but now I doubt that's who they will pick. When you look at this past years playoff loss to KC, and the play of our safeties in that game, we got torched by a very aged Kelce, Rice and Scantling. Watching this during this playoff game was tough to deal with. We showed how old and slow our safeties were in this game that's for sure. The current list of unsigned FA's available at safety are not limited, but they also all around the 28 to 33 age bracket, and there are only a few that would be worth signing based on their past performance IMO. It's risky to sign a starting rookie at S but why not. New DC this year and maybe a new attitude on D as well. Any one of these new draftees' would be a positive addition to this team at the S position. We will have to wait and see. Edited March 15 by Toyo321 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I sort of have a feeling they will slide in last minute and bring Hyde back. Quote

Outside “WR2” is Samuel I really hope not, it would make for a mediocre WR room if that’s the case…, “We” always seem to fall short on offense when we are just a step of two away from getting it right.
