His playcalling will be a work in progress but he seems to get the most out of his guys I like that he can get backups to come in and they are at least prepared mentally for what's coming This has been the secret to McDermott's success for years He disguises his defense better than anybody 1 Quote

I suppose Kromer was here, I think his contract was up but maybe he could have been persuaded to stay? Other than him though that was a chump staff. And McD's first staff was pretty good for what a first time Head Coach is usually able to put together: five guys who are still on staff in Rob Boras (tight ends), Kelly Skipper (running backs), Bobby Babich (then safeties, now DC), Matthew Smiley (then assistant special teams, now STC) and Mark Lubik (then OQC, now Game Management & Assistant Receivers). Plus Leslie Frazier (who had an excellent six year run as DC) and David Culley (who went on to be a HC, albeit briefly). Okay it had a couple of one and dones on the list too - Culley only stayed one year, Gil Byrd was gone within a year and Phil McGeoghan who was a slightly odd hire in the first place. But McDermott's 2017 staff was likely better than Rex's 2016 one. Greg Roman was a good OC and totally scapegoated by Ryan. 1 Quote
JerseyBills Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) I was 1 of the few that wanted him back, I understand financially and roster wise, with Williams now in year 2 as backup , why they didn't but I certainly wouldn't be surprised, without looking at his cap and dead cap #s, if they cut ties w Milano next off season and bring Dodson back, thought he was phenomenal last year, super underrated Love Milano and hope he has an impact in December but just like Tre, at some point you have to factor in injuries Edited September 21 by JerseyBills Quote

Absolutely, he was fired after his offense scored 31 points but the Bills lost because Rex Ryan's defense gave up 34. There was also reports that he called Ryan a clown show afterwards though Roman later denied it. Edited September 21 by Billy Claude 1 Quote
