Was in off activity hours of the board, so not sure how many people saw it. I figured it was better to delete the thread rather than keep it going. It was getting too ugly. There's not much you can say about it that would qualify as too ugly in my book, but I understand. Billsfuk.c = A total waste of skin 1 1

Now PPP has always been a bit of the wild west where behaviors are typically allowed to continue that wouldn't be allowed elsewhere on the board. For the most part anyway.....and I'll leave it there. So if you want to remove a cancer from PPP, don't rely on a mod to remove the cancer. Instead modify your own behavior to promote the cancerous poster to self ban. Here's how: Ignore. Use the ignore function. Use it and stick with it. Do not override the ignore function once you've put it on your ignore list. Encourage others to put it on ignore. If they won't do that, then at bare minimum, ask them politely to please not quote the poster when uselessly engaging it. If another poster excessively quotes the cancerous poster, put them on ignore too. If you get 80-90% of non useful idiot posters here to adhere to the above tenets with religious zeal, then it will self ban in short order. It thrives on ATTENTION. Deprive it of its oxygen. IGNORE. IT. Thank you. Bump. 1

Once everyone stops quoting them and stops replying to them, they will have have lost their "troll power". I would take it a step further though, when that person does violate TOS, report them. It's up to us as a community to come together in order to remove any poster that is a disruptive troll that, instead of engaging in a healthy discussion, devolves into personal attacks as well as thread jacking every thread and trying to turn it into an anti-Trump campaign even when it has nothing to do with the topic being discussed by others. 1

There's two problems with reporting for violating TOS at PPP 1. PPP has always been a little more lax with enforcement of TOS. 2. When mods do get involved they tend to be sympathetic to the narrative that the troll in question is pushing. This is why I created the thread. Relying on mods to enforce the rules here, particularly with posters on the left, ain't happening. 2 1

Relying on mods to enforce the rules here, particularly with posters on the left, ain't happening. I hear ya, and it's exactly how to handle a poster like that. Initially, I didn't want to get into the correspondence I had with him and share it thinking that if I did it would only provoke him, so out of a semblance of respect and pity, I didn't want to throw him under the bus. It wasn't private, it was in the deleted thread, so it was public correspondence. He literally begged me to delete the thread because he was afraid that SDS would see it and he would get banned. I didn't want to delete it, but I had a moment and felt bad for him. That was clearly a mistake. After begging me to delete the thread I put out the stipulation that if he cleaned up his act and agreed to tone things down with his responses to other posters I would delete the thread. He agreed, and as you can see, he lied and continued his trolling and disruptive behavior. I wish I screenshotted his posts before I deleted the thread. He simply needs to be completely ignored. There is no place for a poster/troll/paid shill like him here. All he does is drag down the level of what could be a healthy discussion between other posters. He knows exactly what he is doing and gets off on it. Everyone needs to ignore him and not participate in any threads that were started by him. I've noticed that he is always bumping his own threads to stay relevant. Stay out of any thread that he created, don't quote him, and don't reply to him. 1 1

Have you noticed the duplicate threads posted by someone else? Look at the list this morning. And look at the pointless repeated postings of Trump as Lincoln/Moses/whatever. I was hoping that the poster I'm talking about would have kept his agreement and, if so, I think that would have gone a long way to the bolded of what you said. That was the agreement we came to in order for me to delete that thread. You're a good poster. I know you agree with a lot of what the poster in question has to say, but you have to see how disruptive his ad hominem and non-sequitur ramblings contribute to a devolution of healthy conversation here on the board. I would venture to say that if that poster was absent for a couple of weeks the conversation here on PPP would improve and be much healthier than it has been. Due to the poster in question, I have absolutely been guilty of needing a course correction myself. And, I am doing that as we speak by not engaging, replying to him, ignoring him, or quoting him. We all need to do a better job of that, I'm doing that myself, and I can tell you that starting with ignoring that poster, we will all be better for it. You and I clearly have different ideologies on many topics, but sometimes we also agree. We also have had enough respect in our correspondence to acknowledge each other's perspective and "agree to disagree" without insulting each other, making false accusations, or changing the core topic of the thread into a topic that is completely different. When a poster of that caliber comes into play, it brings out the worst in all of us and we may say things that are not a true reflection of who we are. It's like a cancer in the locker room. It's not good for anyone, even for those of us who disagree with certain topics. It's simply unhealthy.

BillsFanNC Posted March 30 Author Posted March 30 Course correction? That ship has loooong since sailed. Even without the nonsense commie useful idiots have brought upon us for the past several years, PPP has been and always will be a sewer. If you don't accept that reality coming in, then yes a self ban might be your best "course correction." The "Trump History" memes go right over useful idiot heads. The whole point of that X account is absurdity. Therefore they are ON TOPIC posts in absurd threads created by absurd posters. 1
