Easy to understand imo. He scored a lot of touchdowns for a guy with limited skills, perfect time to move on and upgrade. I doubt he ever scores tds at that rate again. The Bills score a lot of touchdowns by the way. I think they will find others who can catch them.

Right, this POV makes perfect sense.  It’s the people who act like Gabe was somehow holding the team back by “only” averaging 700 yards and 7 TDs a year while earning near the league minimum who have lost perspective.

You’re so close to getting the point.  Nobody would expect a guy coming in on a $1-2 million contract to put up anywhere near the 750 yards and 7 TDs that Davis routinely produced…because guys like that are getting 8 figures a season.  Guys who earn $1-2 million put up 86 yards and 1 TD.

Yep, and he didn’t come anywhere near putting up 1600 yards and 14 TDs over the past two seasons like Davis did.

Maybe that's how it works in Madden but not in real life, dude.   Hollins' value is that he's a good STer who plays gunner, a position that every team with playoff expectations needs to fill with a competent player not just some random body.  That he may be able to catch some passes is a bonus.

Hollins is not good. Sherfield and Harty weren’t good either. And everyone talked about them like people are talking about Hollins now. And next year this time we’ll have cut Hollins because he sucked just as bad as his predecessors and here we will be, looking for actual talent at the position again.

I think at best he can be similar Davis but an upgrade over Sherfield.  Seems like a nice depth WR to have.

Miller was already on the decline when he got to the Rams and he forgot what the word tackle meant.

 

We had to sign Floyd because Miller was completely removed from the D Edge position for close to a season and an half.  I don't care if the guy was hurt or not.  We had to bring someone in to try and get pressure on the oppositions QB.  Because Miller was no longer a option for the majority of the past two years.

 

If you watched the last super bowl the Rams played, Von Miller was a non factor for 85% of that game. He only had 2 sacks in that game.  Those were the only tackles he had in the entire game. 

 

1 sack was a group of players getting to Burrow at the same time and he got credit for it.  He took his typical plays off while on the field giving almost no effort at times, when he was on the field.  That is exact the way he played after Buffalo signed him.   I did not like the signing and a lot of people here on this forum hated it.

 

We paid him 4 times the amount of money this guy was worth at his age.  He was great while in Denver because he played team D back then. 

 

From 2021 he became just a guy that wanted sacks and made no effort to tackle the opposition no matter what was happening on the field.

 

He was more of a liability than help last year and this year I don't see anything to change this assessment of what he brings to the table for us.  I hope I am wrong......but don't bet on it.

As soon as he came to Buffalo he forgot what a tackle was?  How did he have 21 tackles and 8 sacks in 9 games with us before he tore his knee up?  Did you forget?  He was one of the league leaders in sacks before getting hurt lol.

I'm trying to see what the option is here.  It's not like we were signing Ridley for the contract he got today.

 

This is the nature of things now.  It's how it goes when you have to pay a top-tier QB.  Big acquisitions in FA will be few & far between.

Again, not the point. Overpaying for a guy that will contribute almost nothing is taking money away from someone that might actually be able to do something. Again, the would you rather argument from last year 

 

would you rather have 

-Deonte Harty

-Trent Sherfield

-Tyler Matakevich

 

or 

-Deandre Hopkins

-2 rookie guys that contributed the same as Sherfield and Matakevich at less than half the cost. 
 

what your not getting is that the cost of both groups is roughly the same. And Hollins is a guy that fits into that first group. I’m not going to ask a hypothetical this season because we don’t know how things will play out yet with FA WRs, or any other position for that matter. But the point is the point. Last year we signed group A when we easily could have had group  B for the same money. And that’s the issue.
