Being weak against the run means that you have to play two-dimensionally on d-line all the time, and that is NOT a good thing. Also, being weak against the run tends to create massive problems inside the red zone. This is why there is literally not one defensive coordinator or head coach in the NFL who would agree with this take (flagging @GunnerBill, who somehow bizarrely agrees in part with this argument.) It's actually the right take You can't be weak against the run but you want to incentivize the opposing offense to run at a -ev frequency Quote

Bad rush defense is better than good rush defense because it encourages rushing, and rushing a lot is a stupid move for the offense. The goal is to win not to be ranked #1 in useless statistical categories. #SometimesHotTakesAreRightTho I'm guessing 32/32 NFL defensive coordinators want to stop the run so effectively that opposing offenses are forced to become one-dimensional, pass-only attacks. This is an overpay IMO. Starting DT's aren't cheap. They've been costing a fair amount this offseason. Looking over the contracts of the top 10 signed since FA opened, it seems pretty in line with the value of what he is and what they're costing: Christian Wilkins - 4 yr 110m (27.5 aav) Arik Armstead - 3 yr 51m (17.5 aav) D.J. Reader - 2 yr 27.5m (13.75 aav) Grover Stewart - 3 yr 39m (13m aav) Sheldon Rankins - 2 yr 24.5m (12.25 aav) Justin Jones - 3 yr 31.165m (10.38 aav) Daquan Jones - 2 yr 16m (8m aav) Raekwon Davis - 2 yr 14m (7m aav) Jordan Elliott - 2 yr 10m (5m aav) Shelby Harris - 2 yr 9m (4.5 aav) Edited March 18 by BillsFanForever19 3 Quote

He got $14M from the Bills his previous 2 seasons. This one is 2 years for $16M. Edited March 18 by Doc Quote
