Not really a fan of this. Lewis and Rapp are not guys you sign on day zero of FA. If they sign elsewhere so be it, we can find cheaper options on day 3 of the draft or in late stage FA. McDermott is a little too obsessed with continuity at depth positions IMO.

The guy just isn't good. Past time to purge most depth and get better talent in here an try to coach them up

I know people are going to complain, but that is a good move at that price. You need backups too.

We have 3 5th round picks and 3 6th round picks. There you can grab DB depth

So, we can sign any FA out there and we're spending the early hours of FA on extensions and bringing back our own guys.

Tells me we are NOT looking to be aggressive in the least. To the draft ..

Cam Lewis provides much more value than a day 3 draft pick or late stage FA.

He is potentially our starting safety but also backs up all secondary spots.  2 million a year is worth that IMO.

Joe Marino will be happy … has been riding this guy hard for weeks

I like Joe Marino a lot, but I hate his roster construction views.  Unfortunately he's pretty accurate in how we seem to approach roster building.  It's good if you want a strong team that makes the playoffs and is a contender each year.  Aside from the Von move that blew up in our face, it's too reliant on good-not great players and depth vs trusting draft picks & UDFA's to have more high end guys.

It's VERY clear we need more high end guys.

Numbers look like it would be very easy to cut him and move on. But you need bodies for camp, and some vet competition for rookies to get a good read on exactly where they stand.

Just because we brought him back doesnt mean he stays, or that we are done addressing the position.

This is fine. We need DB depth. Unlike Neal he can actually play, and costs less.

We now have a starting safety and a backup. Still needs another one of each.

I disagree about Rapp. Rapp is going to be a starter and will fit into this defense well.

Really? Neal played better than him.

You're falling into Beane's trap.

He gets all the Bills fans to get all whiny and pissy and they fall asleep and then all of a sudden.....BOOM!!!

YOU DOUBT ME AGAIN?!
