Oh, I'm sure they would if someone stepped up with an offer that was magnificent. Outside of a franchise QB, almost every player is available at the right compensation.

For them, it would make sense to keep him as he's proven that in that offense with what they have around him he can succeed and keep their offense strong. Less of a gamble of production loss rather than rolling with a rookie...and they need a strong offense as their defense has lost a ton of good pieces over the last 2 years.

They have to sign Chase going forward and Chase > Higgins.

Tee is on the team. They will probably get a third as a comp pick if he walks next year, so that’s where the bidding starts.

So their choice is either:

1. Highly drafted rookie and high third/late second (at least) for Higgins

2. Highly drafted rookie and 1 year of Higgins until he walks next year

They are gonna be in the WR market in the first round imo. And a Higgins long-term deal is not coming, again imo. Which is why they haven’t negotiated for a year lol

I'd actually be willing to throw a big contract at him, but in order to beat out an NFC or non-rival AFC team, we'd likely have to beat the trade compensation...by a lot.

I know we have a lot of holes, but we need to close the gap between the 3 superstars (4 if they don't trade Snead) KC has to our 1... and while that's highly doubtful the route we'd take as Beane loves having depth, I'd begin to think about sacrificing that for high end players and then fill in with Day 3's and UDFA's as depth.

My prediction, this is just a tactic to get Cincinnati to move on a long term extension. They won’t oblige the trade request and they will get a long term deal done.

I'd love that. They'll eventually be paying ridiculous $ for Burrow,Chase , who will reset WR market and Tee

They were the last NFL franchise to not have an indoor training facility which they literally are building now. Carson Palmer is among the loudest voices that have said they will waste Joe Burrow because they are so cheap and never maximize what they have with him. The bengals are one of the few remaining franchises where the team is the sole revenue generator for the owners.

They're not building anything. They laid down some field turf over their old practice field outside of the stadium, put a bubble over that, and called it an "indoor practice facility." The local MLS team has much better training facilities than the Bengals but that's because the Lindners have actual assets outside of the team.

This seems like posturing to me.  They will get a deal done.

I seriously doubt it. Two reasons:

1) No contract talks for a year.

2) Cincy tagged him the instant we entered the tag window. If they wanted to keep him, they’d have waited until the end of the window and worked on a deal. That was a clear signal they were going to try to trade him. Or just keep him one last season, but probably trade him. In any event, they don’t want to sign him to a big contract.

Dummy diva players and their hubris: would rather be a number 1 on a crap team than play with a potential HOF QB and a winning organization.

Everybody that gets tagged wants a deal or a trade, being a diva has nothing to do with it.

Does everyone who requests a trade just use this as posturing? Not being sarcastic here, just wondering.

I think WR is definitely a consideration for them with their first round pick.

Only if they trade him, and if they do it takes another WR needy team off the board round 1.  So it’s at worst a wash for us with the possibility Bengals (who have many needs) could wait to take a WR round 2 with such a deep draft.

If Cincy traded Higgins and their 1st rd pick, how much could they move up?  Would the Giants take that deal?

I’m not sure of Higgins’ value, but you’d have to think they could make something work, even if they had to sweeten the deal. One of the worst kept secrets in the NFL right now is the Chargers desire to move down from 5. Not sure they’d want to go all the way down to 19 or take Higgins rather than draft Nabors, but if they were interested then they could do a deal. Cincy might have to sweeten it a little, but you’d have to think they would be in striking distance.

It is a part of the game and would obviously depend on why they're looking for the trade, if it's just contract then yeah it's just as much a tool for a new contract as it is for getting traded somewhere that will give them one.

But when someone gets tagged then the player is obviously going to want a negotiated deal whether it's on the current team or elsewhere.

It is a powerful tool for players as it ratchets the pressure on the team big time and you know the fans will not be happy either. With that said it usually is not great when guys request out and it typically is the crack that causes movement down the road even if it takes a few years.
