Doc Brown Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Only for the vet minimum and only if we don't re-sign Jackson. 5 3 Quote

That about what I’d expect. He wasn’t terrible but he sure wasn’t good. Hell be fine for a 4th or 5h CB but anything higher than that and we will have problems. 1 Quote

Over 6 years.. the worst passer rating he's ever allowed throughout a season put him at #47 for all qualifying corners He's also had multiple seasons where he's been in the top 30 and even once in the top 20 in passer rating against I think he's squarely a mid-tier number two in a platoon for at least another year or two.. with physical limitations that make him only a fit for 7 or 8 teams But those 8 teany who can get him cheap definitely don't get burned.. especially when they are platooning the number two guy to ,65-70% of snaps Edited March 11 by Buffalo716 2 Quote
HurlyBurly51 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I'd prefer Dane, but we know McD prefers people familiar with his system so I could see it if Jackson gets priced out. 1 Quote
BillsFanForever19 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Nah, Dane Jackson is the new Levi Wallace. Solid, yet unspectacular CB that you can feel comfortable starting if someone goes down and doesn't cost much. I'd imagine he'll be back. With Douglas, Benford, Elam, and Jackson - unless Levi wants to be a Practice Squad guy, I'm not really interested in paying more for a 5th Outside CB. If someone does surprise us and pay more than we'd like for the role Jackson would play on this team, then I could see it. McDermott values CB's who know his system above all else. I mean, why do you think Josh Norman keeps popping up? Quote

Same price point I'm taking Levi 100% now 1 Quote

And watching him get smoked over and over again deep is infuriating. like I said, he’ll be fine if he’s one of our backups. But if we expect him to be a 2 or even a 3 we’re in trouble. Would rather save the money and let McD work his magic in a young kid out of college 1 minute ago, Buffalo716 said: McDermott would take Levi Wallace over Josh Norman The problem Levi hasn't been available Norman has... The third defensive back in our nickel absolutely not Could he be the third outside corner? In a platoon limiting his snaps.. in McDermott's defense for veteran minimum yeah In McDermott's combination coverage defense he's actually pretty astute because he has a high football knowledge and he's great in palms coverage But he's definitely physically limited and getting older which means he's better platooning Edited March 11 by Buffalo716 Quote

I don’t want him on the field ahead of Douglas, Benford, or even Elam. If he’s the 4th guy in the rotation then I guess that’s fine. But honestly, if you’re going to pay him more than vet min it’s too much. Just take your chances with a rookie. 1 Quote

Without a doubt I 100% agree With the practice squad editions I think he's the perfect veteran who could slot into the number two outside role due to circumstances Affordable, consistent in his scheme and technique He could be a valuable third outside corner to a cornerback needy team... But he's at least fourth on ours Edited March 11 by Buffalo716 Quote
billsbackto81 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I always thought Levi was quality depth, when he was starting for us.🤣 Not sure if the sour taste of 13 seconds has left my palate yet for me to welcome him back but if McBeane deems it, so be it. Quote
Aussie Joe Posted March 11 Posted March 11 So no one wants to turn him into a safety… or is that reserved for CBs on the roster earning $10m a year ? 1 Quote
davefan66 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Absolutely not. Was not good the last season he was with us. Has not been good for the Steelers. Quote
