But we were signing guys like Trent Sherfield, Deonte Harty, David Edwards, Damien Harris, Latavius Murray, Kyle Allen, Taylor Rapp, Ty Johnson and Connor McGovern with Leonard Floyd being the biggest star of the bunch. We have even more holes to fill this season and even less than we had last season. We're still over the cap right now and the only thing we can guarantee by Day 1 right now is Josh's restructure. So we'll be continuing to do more signings "right up against it" just like last season. But there's a major difference between making signings "right up against it" and making MAJOR 32m aav signings "right up against it". It's going to be similar signings to last year. Guys in the lower to mid tiers, possible diamonds in the rough, and guys available late in FA that have to accept less. Nothing at the highest price tag right out of the gate. They were playing the comp pick game. I think they still will play the comp pick game. The cap will not stop the Bills from making a large signing. They have plenty of cap in the future to make any signings they want. You don’t need a lot of cap right now to make a big signing. You need it in the future. Quote

These kinds of signings are really how you win in Free Agency. The big splash ones are usually the mistakes. Leonard Floyd, Connor McGovern and Taylor Rapp were all very good signings, who helped the team quite a bit. DaQuan Jones, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde were also cheap deals when we first got them. 2 Quote

I think we’ll see Beane go as high as $15 million AAV in free agency. I don’t think we’ll see another Von Miller move but as much as people hate it I think his biggest UFA moves will continue to be on the defensive line. We’ll see other lower priced ufa’s filling the roster. I expect a nice sized signing on the defensive line when free agency starts. Quote

Orlando Buffalo Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I know Buffalo can convert Josh salary into to bonus to clear up $15 million this year but can the Bills just do part of it? Basically can they do 5 million only? Quote
JerseyBills Posted March 11 Posted March 11 We have no shot. Just hope he doesn't go to an AFC contender 2 Quote

I don't know why that keeps being said...by anybody. At one point Greg had Diggs in his "guaranteed to restructure" column. Either way I would assume we get a wave of Bills news today. 1 Quote

Toyo321 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) Tyler Bass should not be eliminated from this discussion. He is not worth $4.5 Mil this year. Not after his choke job last year. 82.8 FG%. We could use a new kicker, or someone brought in during training camp to compete with him.. Every $ we free up will help this team this year. Edited March 11 by Toyo321 2 Quote

If Von and Knox can restructure their deals to include some incentives (I assume it is also Knox's case), Bass is primary candidate to do the same. Quote

Kickers are a strange group. He definitely had the yips last year but deserves a chance to show he can get it together this year. Definitely needs camp competition (same with punters). I never liked the "no competition" these guys have in camp. He must know he needs to improve, or he will be looking for a job next season. His cap hit next year isn't large. Quote
