BuffaloBillyG Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) Many saw this coming with the trade of Bates. Really good value for Edwards IMO. Edited March 6 by BuffaloBillyG 17 4 11 Quote
Logic Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I already liked the Bates trade, but now I REALLY like it. Between VanDemark, Edwards, and Alec Anderson, our OL depth is off to a good start. As for Edwards...any time you can sign a capable guard (who also essentially plays tight end in jumbo sets) to a fair deal, it's always a good day. Congrats, David "TE3" Edwards. 12 11 Quote
Allen2D̶i̶g̶g̶s̶TBD Posted March 6 Posted March 6 He played very well when in the lineup last season and $3 Million per year for a starting quality guard is a great deal. 3 Quote
Warcodered Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Alec Anderson and Edwards there's our solid interior O-line depth. 1 Quote
stlbills13 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Edwards is solid and really thrived in that 6th oline/3rd te role. Good to get those kind of roles filled so we can concentrate on the big dogs we need Quote
SCBills Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) We pretty much have our 8 Gameday Active OL set on March 6th. Really nice group. Talented across the board. Good mix of veteran and youth on the starting line, with a starting caliber veteran depth OG/Jumbo TE and two developmental players that the staff is high on that are now entering multiple years in the system. BuffaloBill Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Explains the Bates move - solid signing and good for the Bills to pick up draft capital. The o-line has been a bright spot. Quote
Whkfc Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I liked Edward's he fills that blocking TE spot while also being a starter quality back up. Quote
GunnerBill Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Yea he is better than Bates. Looking at those numbers I'm expecting $1.2m 2024 base salary guaranteed and $0.8m pro-rated bonus. Cap hit in 2024 of about $2m. 2 Quote
Billl Posted March 6 Posted March 6 What's the story with this guy? Just saw that he played offensive snaps in 15 regular season games and both postseason games but never more than 37% of them. Why was there a rotation at Guard? I've never heard of that. 1 Quote
Success Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Beane has done a great job building the line, both starters & depth. Really, the most important unit when you have a true franchise QB. 2 2 1 Quote

There wasn't. He played a handful of snaps for McGovern when he got dinged up here and there and had to come out. Played a few games late in games we had well in hand. Bulk of his snaps came and "6th OL/TE eligible" role. He's very solid at that spot. Edited March 6 by BuffaloBillyG 2 2 1 Quote
JohnBonhamRocks Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Great news. Loving our OL depth even without Bates. 1 Quote
frostbitmic Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Will he be the backup Center as well as the #3 Guard ? ... IIRC he backed up Bates there last year. Quote

I should have realized that given that I watched Buffalo jam it down the Chiefs' throat in the first half of the divisional round using an extra lineman. 1 Quote

He will be their primary guard backup and the jumbo package tackle. I imagine Alec Anderson and a draft pick will end up battling out for backup center. 4 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Good, it’s the most important unit in support of our QB1. 1 Quote
