Yeah, the NFL’s gambling policy seems pretty murky even for the owners themselves. It’s not surprising that some are confused, especially with all the recent partnerships between the league and betting sites.
I get why they’re cautious, especially with how easy it is for gambling to turn into something bigger. If you’re into betting but want to keep it fun and under control, I’ve had a good experience with Panen123. They’ve got a straightforward setup, and you can enjoy the bets without all the complications.
Feels like the NFL is walking a tightrope with this one, but as long as everyone’s clear on the rules, they should be fine... hopefully.

Can confirm.   Cowboys missing their last field goal attempt ruined my parlay as I had the over on 37 pts.  The NFL knew what it was doing 🤔😄

How much you wanna bet a ref gets caught fixing a game?

I see on FanDuel the over/under is two years.

Its easier to spot now than before.  Most places have prop bet limits.  NBA ref already got caught doing it a decade ago.  The places know who place the bets.  Its in the books benefit to look into because they can keep the money and not pay the winning bet if they expect fraud.  More lower level players will get caught and kicked out.

Imaging this…the poorly paid , very good kicker puts a bet on himself to not make a kick using a third party?

Random person who never bet makes massive bet wont be a red flag?  Cant make a massive bet on a prop anways.  Kicker makes Atleast 10,000 a game will bet 1,000 to win 2,000 and maybe lose his job making way more?

Sounds silly, but these guys aren’t all professional athletes because of their reasoning skills.  What was Calvin Ridley betting, which cost him time and money in the league?

And quickly caught. He was on ir I believe. Dumb people will do dumb things.  They will get caught pretty quickly.  Again easier to spot and easier to find now.

Heavy gambling has been taking place for at least half a century on NFL games. If, or when, that happens will have nothing to do with legal gambling.

My thoughts exactly.  Usually you do that because you owe a bookie/loan shark a bunch of money, and fixing a game can allow them to have guaranteed wins.

When they legalized it my friend was like, oh man they put the bookies out of business.  No, the bookies business has always been to float money so you can gamble before you get paid.   It's the same reason fanduel can run all these promotions, it keeps you on the drip and they're making so much money every day.

How many are betting on games in some way right now and not getting caught?

4 of my legs hit in the first half (prop bets) the last one was over 14.5 yards receiving for singletary.  He had a catch for 14 yards in the first half and then none the rest of the game!

Daboll got the call from NYC! Lol

Location tracking.  Information provided to place bets.  Leagues and books know what players have bet and where they place the bets and on what.  They track what you bet and your habits are.  Lions players got suspended for placing bets on other sports but in the Lions team facility.

Same here.  7 of 8 legs and Singletary came up with only 24 of the needed 40 rushing yards. I think he had more than 40 before that friggin reverse-his-field-in-quicksand move.

Right, that was just stupid on the part of the Lions’ players.  But what’s to prevent associates of someone affiliated with a game placing bets (players, refs, etc.) on their behalf?  I’m not claiming this is necessarily prevalent or that gambling shouldn’t be allowed, but cheating could be happening at any point in time and could go completely unnoticed by some of these tracking mechanisms if the culprits are smarter about it rather than stupid.

Good question. I'm also not sure how much they want to catch the star players, if at all.

Not like the good old days when you had a bookie in a hat and trenchcoat taking your bets. Didn’t Alex Karras get suspended for a year for gambling?
