I heard on WFAN that 6 out of 7 home plate umps for the WS are considered to be either hitter friendly or extremely hitter friendly.

Supposedly YES shows this info before each game - any of you Crankee fans see that? Sounds like great pre-game info.

Nice ending to game 1.

Baseball, after all these years, still has something incredibly unique to it and just proved it again.

Wasted a good outing from Cole.  Boone's decisions in this series are critical.  I'm not sure about pitching Cortes in the 10th after not having pitched in over a month.  But no guarantees another reliever would have saved the game.  Good game, though, between two good teams.

Man, as a Bills fan since the '80's and a Yankees fan (who only became a baseball fan after 2009) - it's truly astounding how many gut-wrenching, "game with name" losses I've experienced in my lifetime.

I hate that I'm almost starting to expect it. But, tonight was just game 1.  Still a long series.

Only way Boone shakes the stigma of that career defining blunder is to win the series.

I told my brother that Boone is the weak link on the Yankees.  A lot of his decisions are based on player loyalty (e.g. staying with Holmes at closer for way too long).  It nearly cost them the AL East and it could very well cost them a World Series.

Aaron Boone’s 13 seconds.

And a fake punt to Hamlin.

All in one.

The flip side of that is that they swung at about 30 pitches out of the zone.   Dodgers didn't even have to throw strikes.  Buffoone almost always instinctively pushes the wrong button but he can't do anything about that.   I don't think I have ever seen a Yankee team that over-anxious at the plate.   That's how they stranded 12 runners.   Hell the Stanton HR was way out of the zone too and the 3rd pitch out of the zone he swung at in that at bat.   That's not abnormal for him but everyone was jumping out of their shoes to hit after a week off. They just couldn't hold their water,  which is very uncharacteristic.    But if Tortoise doesn't casual that throw from Soto they win anyway.   Meh.  It happens,  7 game series.

Nah.  With the exception of a few 2 month runs where the team was unreal he has been a walking blunder since they hired him.   Roberts wasn't a lot smarter letting Flaherty pitch to Stanton a third time.   Flaherty totally lost control of about 10 pitches in that game and was lucky they didn't wind up in the strike zone and get hammered.   He should have gone to his pen earlier and he might have had a shut out.

Been a great season.  The primary objective now is to win three games in NY and show Soto this is where he belongs there is no better environment.  It will be a yearly occurrence like the late 90s teams.

Torres

Soto

Stanton

Rizzo

Judge

Jazz

Dominguez

Volpe

Wells

That's what I’d do.

The team has taken on its vanilla personality of its captain and Coach.  No urgency ever.  All is always well.

It won't be a yearly occurrence if Hal doesn't get accustomed to spending $350M+ on payroll like the Dodgers and Mets are willing too.   His payroll reduction rhetoric is concerning.   The league has wisely done everything they can to penalize big spending teams and promote parity without actually instituting a salary cap.   So if you want to LITERALLY keep winning every year you gotta' spend.   Sure, you might be able to find an unlikely superstar once-in-a-while like the Astros did when they fleeced LA of Alvarez and extended their window for a season or two..........but realistically when you never draft early in round 1 and international money is capped your best chance is just too excel at finding average starters and bullpen depth.   You gotta' keep buying difference makers to make up for the lack of cracks at top draft prospects because free agents(except Soto) are usually on the backside of careers.   You gotta' be OK with overpaying.   And given their ridiculous profits,  Hal should be more than happy to spend more than anyone else.

Not Boone.

Not the Yankee bats that are MIA.

John Smoltz is absolutely ruining this World Series.

He is legit the worst color man in all of sports.

All he does is talk like someone shot his dog while trying to tell you how a lot about absolutely nothing.

No feel for the game or awareness to let the action dictate how you should be reacting in order to make the game exciting.

PBP:  Gets excited over a big hit or strikeout

Smoltz:  *depressed voice* Well the problem with that is ……. Look at Judge’s swing path (knows nothing about Judge’s swing path)
