Brianmoorman4jesus
Our defense never makes stops against the good QBs. We can talk about it 500 different ways. Since Houston 19…that’s it. That the reason. We can keep pretending or keep ignoring it. That’s the problem Edited February 16 by Brianmoorman4jesus 3
T.E.
The Chiefs have been down by double digits in all four of their Super Bowls and came back to win three of them. How do the Bills react when they're down in games? Do we keep our cool and stick to the plan, or do we panic a little bit? We're essentially front-runners; this stat proves it. When things are going well, they go REALLY well. When we face a little adversity, ehhhh... 3

One of the most prominent and respected posters here, completely disagreed with me, by touting the Bills D as one of the superior ones in the league. Indeed… against the stiffs and bums of the Regular Season! I decided not to respond by pointing out the horrific collapses and simply horrifying, sieve like numbers of McDs Ds versus the Chiefs & Bungles in the Playoffs! Let alone, the scary Ws against the Sunday Beer League 3rd stringer of the Fish… in the snow… or the other backup this year from Pittsburgh! These have NOT been Playoff… no SB Champion Ds, not by a long shot! And there is a belief that that Albatross Miller, in his mid 30s, is finally going to be ACL resurrected. I do not share that belief. As well as Tre White. Great human being, very good D player when uninsured but he is- Achilles! Cannot be allowed to return. No chance he’ll be at his best. The Bills need to upgrade asap. An awful lot here that doesn't make much sense. For one, you say, "No chance [Tre]'s at his best. That's both obviously purely distilled guesswork and near-irrelevant. He doesn't need to be at his best. If he's damn good he'll be worth every penny of his very reasonable salary this year. We'd save virtually nothing by cutting him. It'll be about what it's always about. Lots of things falling on the scales, including financial, physical, what we get in FA and the draft, The fact you want him gone says far more about you than it does about the situation. Second, they absolutely were a terrific defense. Before the injuries. Injuries which are unpredictable and in fact random. You're certainly right that after those injuries they weren't a championship defense. Before, they were really really good. And even with that they allowed two more points and 130 yards less to the Chiefs than the Niners did in the SB. And the Niners are a terrific defense.

Magox
9 hours ago, JoPoy88 said: Because they didn’t beat the chiefs, chiefs, bengals, and chiefs. sitting on one aggregate stat and crying over it is, dont want to be too insulting, but it’s pathetic. beating the piss outta various bad (and sometimes good!) teams during the regular season over the past 3 seasons doesn’t mean anything as far as winning championships. That's bull####. The Bills have beaten a lot of good teams, the last two games in the playoffs against the Chiefs could have gone either way. There was definitely some bad juju and luck. If the Bills don't give up the 13 seconds or even for that matter the bad luck of a loss of a coin flip in that game or this last game, if Jones gets to Josh Allen 10/100's of a second the game very likely ends differently or even just having Bernard play that game it most likely is a different ending. The point is that the Bills are right there, they have been dominant and they have been the toughest challengers to the Chiefs over the past 2 years in the league. This bitching and moaning that the Bills are so far off and that they need to completely retool is preposterous. No wholesale changes need to be made, they are right freaking there, surround Josh with more playmakers through this draft, get a couple solid Defensive contributors and the Bills will be right there again next season.

SoonerBillsFan
1 hour ago, Thurman#1 said: Those are all factors, especially all the defensive injuries this year, but the #1 factor is this: Mahomes and the Chiefs. The only other team to knock us out caught us when absolutely emotionally deadened by the Hamlin thing, Knox's brother's death, the supermarket shooting, and on and on. Mahomes and the Chiefs were fractionally better all three times, just barely eking past us. Because we didn't draft good enough guys on the DL and Andy Reid knows McDermott inside and out and knows how to attack him. McDermott needs to let the new DC implement HIS system and stay out of it. If you keep doing the same things expecting the same results, its insanity. Changes MUST be made. Much Better draft picks on the DL, WR and in the secondary along with a change in systems will make a huge difference. You can't keep coming at KC with the same old **** year after year. It seems to me they mean something. Not to mention we're 3-0 the last 3 times we faced the Chiefs in arrowhead in the regular season. Without the Chiefs we win 1, probably 2 superbowls. Its really unfortunate we gave them Mahomes. I chalk it up to Bills luck. 21 minutes ago, Bogie_Klinkhammer said: We built the stadium next to a graveyard This might be the only true answer. ddaryl
Same reason we beat KC in the regular season but can not beat them in the post season. We do not have the coach / GM with the vision needed and are learning as they go. Unlike Reid who has decades as an NFL coach and plenty of experience to pull from and a GM who knew what he had with Mahommes and made sure he had to tools around him
Blackbeard
All this McD bitching. I sat and spoke with steve tasker during the season. I specifically asked him about McD, to which he responded that the fans take that he isn't a good coach is absurd. He said McD is one of the best in the league and is going no where. He raved about him. Its easy to sit back and play Monday morning QB, but here is a ex pro player, completely in the know. Did some of McD's decisions not pan out, yes. But ALL COACHES make decisions that don't pan out. We are LUCKY to have him as a coach. He is top 5 in the league. 6 minutes ago, ddaryl said: Same reason we beat KC in the regular season but can not beat them in the post season. Exactly, not winning a SB has absolutely nothing to do with point differential. We're capable of getting to the final 8 every year. We gotta find a formula to reduce injuries. We must find better ways to motivate the players around Josh come divisional time. And last but not least our coaches, starting with Sean, must step up their game in strategy and scheme. All 3 of these factors must converge or Josh will be running around playing Superman all by himself.
hondo in seattle
9 hours ago, Awwufelloff said: You could have just said we got outcoached Yet coaching helped produce that point differential. It's impressive that McD and his staff are producing a much better point-differential than Reid, Shanahan or any other coach. And yet, not a single SB appearance over that stretch. You'd think there'd be at least one. If coaching is the problem, why does McD outcoach the rest of the NFL during the regular season but not in the postseason? How is he different in the playoffs? Does he suddenly scheme differently? Or prepare the team differently?

2003Contenders
It goes in cycles -- and assuming we still have #17 for years to come, the Bills' time will eventually come. It took Landry and the Cowboys awhile to get to the dance because Lombardi and the Packers stood in their way. It took Noll and the Steelers awhile because Shula and the Dolphins stood in their way. It took the Raiders awhile because the Steelers stood in their way. It took the 49ers awhile because Landry's Cowboys stood in their way. Then, it took the Cowboys awhile because the 49ers stood in their way. It took Favre and the Packers awhile because the Aikman/Emmitt/Irvin Cowboys stood in their way. It took the whole league awhile (including Manning/Colts, Cowher/Steelers, Reid/Chiefs) to get past the Brady/Belichick Patriots. Now, it is KC with Reid/Mahomes that stands in everyone's way. I am optimistic that with a few additions (especially at WR and on defense) and better luck with health come playoff time, we will eventually see the Bills hoist a Lombardi trophy. 2
