When I lived in KC, someone a few blocks from me was shot in the face for refusing to give a handout to a panhandler at a bus stop.  On New Years, there were so many guns firing into the air it sounded like firecrackers.  KC can be a pretty dangerous city.

I'm not bringing up politics, I'm discussing the shooting.

you opened the conversation to factors of the shooting. that opens a can of worms not reasonable for the fan of a football team. this is a fortunate or unfortunate premise - depending on your angle but it doesn't need to be in this forum.

Damn. This really sucks. Terrible. And it will probably make cities and teams re-think doing these in the future. Would really suck to finally win one and there's no parade because of a couple psychos in KC.

They’re all there to celebrate the same thing. How can gun violence be involved? I just don’t get it

all it takes is one crazy out of hundreds of thousands, sadly.

To be fair, you were the first one to "open the conversation to factors of the shooting" in this thread by mentioning mental illness.

Not sure about shootings but I remember the Bulls and Pistons had problems at their championship parades.  Destruction of property and fires.

When the Cuse won it in 2003, I remember heading over to Marshall St and there were riot police everywhere, since people’s idea of celebrating was climbing up light poles and setting things on fire.  At least no one was getting shot at in that area though, to my knowledge.

I just got back from the parade with my family.  Incredible day.  Beautiful weather, and everyone was having a blast.  Ridiculous that any dirtbag can walk into any place in America and start killing people, but here we are.  We just have to make sure not to go crazy and actually do anything to prevent it from ever happening again.

Mayor and Police Chief press conference going on now. 10 to 15 people shot. One dead. Two people in custody. No reports of children shot. Still a fluid situation.

Is this the 1st time a shooting like this has happened at a championship parade?  Would be somewhat surprising

Until today I've never heard of a shooting at an NFL championship parade.  Pray for the victims.

i.e., mental illness

Probably not in this case. Street beef/gang related is my bet given that two people are in custody.

There is no debate than it is mental illness.
