MPL Posted February 13 Posted February 13 There is way too much talk about ass cutting in this thread for a Tuesday morning. 2 Quote
T master Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) He's not going to get paid by this or any other team given the last 3 seasons that would be foolish for any team to pay him as the player he was before the injuries . If i was Beane i would give him a prove it deal (Maybe) but not at corner maybe safety & then i'd have to think about it . I hate that Tre has been dealt the hand he has been but he has, Beane will do what ever is in the best interest of the team both from a business stand point & the player . We all know Tre has the heart but physically can he come back, only time will tell there have been others that this type of thing has ended their careers . I think all of Bills mafia were hoping Tre would be a cornerstone of this team for many years but right now none of us not even Beane or McD can know that answer . Do you think free agents are going to want to sign someplace where one of the precious roster spots is reserved for a guy they feel bad for? That's not a winning mentality and that's why a FA wouldn't sign here. The players are as cutthroat as anyone. There should be little concern for symphony or compassion, that's weakness. 1 1 Quote

I’m not positive that he can make the transition to safety seems a little on the small side 1 1 Quote

You admitted its bad PR. I'm not talking about end of the roster guys (spoiler: end of the roster guys are pretty much interchangeable and don't matter all that much), I'm talking about guys like Leonard Floyd, mid tier FA's who might raise eyebrows if the team cut the dude who died on the field and had multiple teams to pick. Plus the team only saves about $6m if they cut him. Doubt you find a replacement corner at his level for that money I would offer him a paycut if not good bye Quote

They can let him down easy when they cut his ass a wish him well. I'm a fan who wants to win. It seems like Tre is a wonderful young man. But guess what? He hasn't do ***** to help us win in a long time. So guess what? So long *****. See ya when you're back to "lead the charge!" Did you forget your meds today? 1 Quote

Could Tre carry an extra five pounds if needed for the move to FS? There’s a lot of conjecture regarding Tre White, but the idea of just letting him go without knowing his rehab status is shortsighted at best. I wouldn’t count him out, regardless. Quote

I don't believe that cutting someone who almost died is bad publicity. In the end, the game is all about winning, not feel-good stories. Damar wasn't even a high-draft pick, he was a fringe player when he suffered a heart attack. Leonard Floyd has made it clear that he prioritizes money over everything else. He doesn't care whether the team cuts Hamlin or not. Quote

And it's a good move for both parties. Tre won't likely see big bucks as a FA. And if he comes back and is able to play I don't know if he's better than Douglas or Benford at this stage of his career. He's likely the #3 boundary CB. The one caveat here is IF he were to come back and IF he's healthy enough to be the #2 CB...a case could be made for the Bills to start the Benford to safety transition they talked about last off season. That would also IMO depend on Elam taking steps forward and possibly Dane Jackson returning as experienced depth. So a lot in play for a move like this. Quote

It almost amounts to the pay cut being a "prove your still worth elite money" deal. I think Tre would take it and not feel bad about it. 1 Quote

Tre might actually be participating fully in the minicamp in a couple months. I think we restructure his deal, which would be smart, but if we get a fully healthy Tre White by minicamp, maybe McDermott and Babbich can transition Benford or Douglas to Safety. Thanks, transplant. They may move on from here and the back to back injury sucks, but honestly, I have always thought that even though he was lost for the season this injury just wasn't that bad and that he likely won't even miss camp. Tre of old and right off the bat? Probably not, but I just know he'll be back, sooner rather than later, and that this was not career ending. Edited February 14 by dollars 2 donuts 1 Quote

I rather have the depth at Corner then to move anyone to safety. Safeties are loaded in free agency and it's a value position just sign 2 new guys for cheap. It's time to find our new dynamic duo at Safety . Quote

You don't want free agents thinking "Buffalo is the place where they cold-blooded cut the dude who died on the field for them." I get that, but how many seasons does he occupy a roster spot solely because management fears repercussion sentiments by releasing him? Quote
