Everyone was so proud to 'cut the cord', thinking they were sticking it to the man. I predicted that it will only be a matter of time until the streaming services have everyone in their grasp at which time they'll have the leverage to stick it right back to the customer. They're not there quite yet, but getting closer all the time. Oh, it's so nice to pay $4.99 monthly for Hulu, or Peacock or Paramount. Sure....How long before the monthly fee mirrors the Netflix model, which started out at around 7.99? Now that they have everyone hooked, it's doubled for the same service. Those monthly smart TV app services will shoot up to $9.99/month, UNLESS, for the bargain price you want to purchase it for a full year for the low low price of only $79.99. Of course, you'll need about 4 different services to get all the content you want. Suddenly, you realize you're paying more than you ever did with cable. You'll be longing for the good old days of Directv, cable, and the NFL Sunday Ticket on Directv. 2 Quote

Just Jack Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Saw an article the other day, YouTube TV is now the 4th largest "cable/TV Provider" company. Surprisingly, DirecTV is 3rd largest. YouTube TV is the US’s 4th-biggest cable TV provider, with 8 million subs | Ars Technica Edited February 7 by Just Jack Quote
Jauronimo Posted February 7 Posted February 7 No pricing or specifics have been released and most of you are bitching about it, planning boycotts, or burning your TVs. Gotta love TBD's brand of aggressive stupidity. 1 Quote

The grumpy old men of TSW won't pay for Bills content...........but fortunately they will be able to read about the results and transactions every morning on TSW. Other media insiders and analysts said the cost would likely have to be in the $50 range or higher. I can't see it being any cheaper than that unless they add in an ad tier. Quote

mjd1001 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I am not too interested in this, but I the little of what I have looked into it the less I understand exactly what it is going to be and what it will give me that I don't already have. I've been tuning out of watching sports for years. Ironicially, the one 'major' us sport that gets the least major attention (NHL) is the only one that I am watching more (a little more, but not a lot more). As for the Rest, the Bills are really the only NFL team I watch anymore (I haven't evne watched much of the other playoffs and don't know if/how much I will watch of the superbowl). MLB and NBA I hvaen't watched a full game of in years. Quote
TheFunPolice Posted February 7 Posted February 7 so which game will be exclusive to this new service next season? We got off easy with Peacock, which cost next to nothing for 1 game. Not so much this time around. Quote

Lagoon Blues Posted February 7 Posted February 7 GET OFF MY LAWN! haha...this is the direction it has been going for a LONG time. It is just getting around to a higher percentage of people. This is how the younger generations are already consuming entertainment. This is a long term shift that has been in the works for a very long time. 1 Quote

As long as there’s a market for the product, there will be an outlet for it Demand will determine pricing and the provider will always charge the maximum amount that will yield the maximum profit. 1 hour ago, BADOLBILZ said: Yep it's coming full circle. Meaning those who don't want to pay for it will lose out. 1 Quote
