TYLER - Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested in Tyler for allegedly driving while intoxicated, eight days ahead of the Super Bowl.

Fifty-three-year-old Mahomes, Sr. was charged Saturday with at least his third DWI, according to Smith County records.

He was issued a $10,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if he had been released.

Mahomes, Sr. played in Major League Baseball from 1992 to 2003.

This is a developing story.

As an aside, I used to be a die hard Mets fan, and was always a fan of Mahomes Sr.

I think I was always drawn to these middle relievers for some reason— loved guys like Turk Wendell, Dennis

Cook, and Armando Benitez from those late 90s Mets teams too!

Sad. Alcohol used to excess is bad enough without adding a vehicle to the mix—he’s lucky it wasn’t worse, like Andy Reid’s kid causing that awful dwi wreck a few years back. I have a relative who just finished his 3rd detox tour in as many months and is now at a long term sober living facility—that addiction has caused him to lose a lot in his life. 😞.

"In this case, no one was injured. However, under Texas law, Mahomes Sr. faces two to 10 years in prison, given that it would be his third DUI offense."

As a Mets fan I'll give you Turk. But Benítez was a rollercoaster I did not enjoy. Mahomes had a 5 era if I recall correctly. I wasn't a fan of that either.

oh dear. Well a third DWI is serious business. When will the consequences be severe enough to induce a change in his alcohol use.

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt dude needs help but that may include prison.

Noone wants police intervention in their life but this guy clearly didn't get it and needs stop. Somehow.

Yeah! Let's attack Texas despite not knowing ***** about their laws or reading an article just posted above it saying he faces 2-10 years for 3rd offense!

Jump to them conclusions, Felicia. It makes you look brilliant. Your bias is clearly showing. 🤘🏼
