A couple of these quotes have been sprinkled in various threads, but this probably deserves it’s own thread since the media will run with these.

I don’t know if he’s doing it on purpose, or if he doesn’t realize how it comes off, but his cryptic comments definitely stir things up.

Here we go.

It's bad enough the media likes to make something out of nothing every year. Do we really need to do it here every year too?

It's nothing. Same as last year. His contract isn't really tradable. Especially with how he played at the end of last year. Why would a team take that on if there's any concern he's falling off?

As for what he said, I read it as nothing. I just took it as him looking at how things ended last season and the team being a mess roster wise and not taking for granted that he's safe. Reports are he's not unhappy or looking to move:

He is locked up. It would take a complete meltdown from him for the Bills to even think about moving on, because it would hurt the team. He would have to convince everyone that it hurts the team even more to keep him, and then what? No other team is going to give him a decent contract after that. He would be entering Antonio Brown territory.

I actually kind of wish it was an option, because he hasn't been playing well. He needs to prove that he can be a top receiver again.

Dashing out of town faster than a Saturn V rocket 🚀 past the post game interviews where he could’ve said the right things but chose not to, got us rolling in this direction…breathless twitterverse speculation was inevitable. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good point. And it’s for this same reason that we can’t restructure him. It would just add more of his money to next year.

I love Diggs. He is my 2nd favorite player (behind Josh). But he does bring some of the media attention upon himself. Instead of giving a cryptic response, a simple “I look forward to being a Bill next year” would take all the power out of the medias hands.

But instead of doing that, he does the cryptic stuff. Maybe it’s just fun for him.

Anyone saying this isn’t cryptic or weird is just using blinders. He knows his contract doesn’t allow (financially, for the Bills) a trade so even if he wasn’t happy here, why not just say “I can’t wait to go at it with Josh and the boys again next year” or something equally non-attention grabbing. He’s a narcissist just like his brother.

He is a pro athlete. Most of them are narcissists or have narcissistic tendencies. Especially at the "skill" positions.

It was the same way in Minnesota near the end. Diggs has mastered toeing the line of being a full blown media circus without actually saying enough to get all the way there.

He knows to say just enough to raise antennaes, but not enough to clearly be in the wrong or have folks around the league think he’s a locker room cancer.

Hope we right that ship or hope he’s gone in 25.

Meh,whatever.  Show up in the fall and perform.

Performing in the Fall isn't his problem.

And especially wide receivers.

Mahomes is basically a QB with the receiver diva mentality now that I think about it...

True.  Then I amend my previous statement to this: Meh, just show up and play to your best level for a full season which includes the playoffs and hopefully a superbowl.

This will be unpopular , but, I have made my peace if the team decides to eat the dead cap, and trade Diggs…

The Bills are gonna have to eventually rip off the bandaid (get younger and cheaper)…The sooner the better…Plus I think the FO might be recognizing Diggs doesn’t show up for the playoffs anyway…

Do what you gotta do…I would take a 2nd rounder, if possible…Go Bills…👍

This is silly. "I look forward to being a Bill next year" would have undoubtedly led to a follow up of whether he thinks he will be here. Then he'd say "I can't tell you what the future holds, I just know I'll be ready..." and the media would run with it.

You can't take the "power" out of the media's hands because they aren't looking for the truth. They are looking for whatever will generate readership and will spin the story to that end.

I dunno about narcissist but def. seem to trend towards attention seeking and drama with NFL WRs and CBs

I love Diggs too but this and his decline in play are just 2 more huge reasons we need to go heavy in this, the mother of all WR laden drafts.

I will forgive McD and Beane one last time if they draft a couple early finally. If it’s all defense for McDs side of the ball that never shows up for the playoffs anyways, I may have to drive to Buffalo and 🥜 🤛 the whole FO
