The absolute best thing to happen to Sam Hartman probably. Sucks to not see all the guys play.

It does, but he showed his skills in the practices, and he doesn’t need to risk injury.  The players who need to play are the guys trying to get a draft slot, or move up a round in the draft.

Absolute non-story. They watched him throw a couple hundred times this week, the bowl game itself is as useless as every other bowl game, it’s just there for tv

I think the leverage is finally just shifting towards college players.  Probably inevitable and maybe overdue.

But aren’t these players potentially taking spots away from other college players who could really use the exposure?

if these college players don’t want to play in the game, then don’t accept the invitation, IMO.

100% agree.

its workouts for a game. He has plenty of chances to get non game reps with coaches

Not worth risking an injury if his camp knows there is already interest from teams.

but what about this:

As one source with knowledge of the situation put it, the National team has been “gutted” by players deciding to skip the game. It might have only two or three total receivers.

it’s not a required event, and frankly agents could put on any workout style event they want for their players in the off-season. The top handful of agencies could easily collaborate to create an open practice week, instead of hijacking the practice sessions for a game.

I suspect you’ll see exactly that in the near future.

We will see. They could’ve 20 years ago and didn’t then or anytime since.

The Senior Bowl’s practice sessions have relevance to the scouting of the assembled players. For some players, participating in the practices is enough.

This year, plenty of players won’t be playing in the game.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has decided not to play, we’re told, even though he was supposed to start for the National squad. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix will play only a couple of series. That leaves Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman to take the bulk of the snaps for the National team.

Thoughts?

I’m so proud of you

Somebody must have rubbed Penix the wrong way during the week.

That's it.  K-9 just won the internet for today.
