Been hearing Babich praise for years now.. Seems to be super loyal and very respected by players and coaches

Dodson had a great tweet showing Babich extreme love earlier today. I never heard a bad thing about this man, can't find Dodson twitter but if you got time check it out

But this mentality is phenomenal and I feel was built by McD and this teams culture -

PLEASE let this man have influence in who we draft on Defense.

Poor guy...

If the defense does well, he's just McDermott's puppet.

If the defense under performs, he's the next scapegoat to protect McDermott.

I like the promotion, just doubt he'll get fair credit for what he puts into it.

if he can get something out of the D line though he will be considered a genius … McD couldn’t get enough this year … and it’s not going to be better next year

It’s funny, I have never seen Bobby Babich before. I pictured him as this old guy

That was his dad who coached our LBs before handing the role off to junior.

I thought Sean did a damn good job calling the defense given what he was dealt with injury wise. Not sure why he would give up his coordinator duties

I'm guessing he felt he needed more time for his HC duties.

And he may have also felt it was the right thing to do for Babich's career development.

I get where that comes from with how things always went with Frasier, but it's a different situation with Babich. Frasier had already failed as a Head Coach and is pretty old like if he was a HC now he'd be the second oldest HC behind only Andy Reid who is only 1 year older than him. At a time when offensive HCs were heavily favored that's an uphill climb.

Babich much younger guy doesn't have that past failure on him, came up in an organization seeing first hand how to build a winning culture. I'm sure if the defense continues to play well he'll get his shot, and if nothing else it's a great launching platform to go somewhere else to prove it and get his shot still if he has too.

Heck even the offense! Then maybe we would have Puka Nakua instead of Justin shorter

McDermott preparing his next wave of human shields to prolong his career...

A new OC and DC to blame if/when things go south!

Are you paying attention, Pegula?

You idiot!

May I suggest you consider therapy before I add you to my ignored list.

Normally not a fan of seemingly automatic internal promotions...but this one I like. Bobby seems like a bright young coach that was likely to be a DC in 2025 if not sooner. Glad we are keeping him.

Let's see if McDermott gives him full duties and lets him call plays or if he keeps playcalling and brings Babich along slower.

Packers, Dolphins and Giants all interviewed him, so as far as automatic promotion - it was either promote him, or lose him I think.

Really hope he does ok.

On one hand, it is good to see a guy do well and get promoted for doing his job well.  That promotes good culture and willingness for good people to be in the organization.   That is McDermott's strength.

The contrarian in me just needs to point out that he is a McD disciple. So what will he add to the defense to get a better/different outcome?  Maybe an outside voice even if running the same base defense would add some new concepts or wrinkles.  To me this just signals more of the same.  Is that good enough? It hasn't been in 7 years so why would we expect it to be any better next year.  No doubt injuries took their toll. So maybe the outcome will be different next year.

I have faith in only one person to deliver a Lombardi - Josh Allen.  Beane please go get this guy some more weapons.

Why wait, sling him in there now and avoid the rush.

His father Bob Babich coached for the Bills before he handed off to his kid

What I was trying to get at is when did we get in the business of training coordinators when we should be concentrating on winning the SB.

Don’t bother with this guy, he is on a constant whining rant, just look at his last ten or so posts, says it all right there,

Oh, I agree. Even if he didn't get one of those 3 we likely lose him next cycle. Of course, having the 3 interviews with the promotion right after may lead to believe he was offered or likely to be offered at least one of them. I get that completely.

I actually don't mind the Babich promotion at all.

I dunno, when the D was healthy I thought McDermott did a good job. I may be in the minority, but in that rough stretch leading up to Dorsey's firing, I thought the D was the main reason we stayed in a quite a few games. Offense just couldn't get out of their own way, and basically made the D keep the game close until they finally started scoring points in the 4th qtr.

Then again, they lost Milano & White and didn't get Douglas until the trade deadline, and were just up & down afterwards.

Pats game was a dud though, so McD deserves all the s*** for that.

Those two things maybe related also Daquan Jones basically the defense had to fill a gaping hole in the middle along with it's best DB and like 2 weeks later Patriots game.

D Line … not the D as a whole …

D line was pretty healthy all season… went missing over the course of season and disappeared completely come the Chiefs game … even Oliver who had a great year otherwise
