Beane’s last 2 draft classes were phenomenal, even with Elam

2022 getting Cook, Bernard, Benford, Shakir is super impressive work.  So I give him credit there.

Elam is a massive whiff and it gets even more annoying when they basically traded Tyler Linderbaum and Jordan Stout for Elam. It just hurts.

Torrence looked really good. He had some rookie moments, specifically on the inside rush, but I like him a lot. Him and Kincaid are homeruns.

Congrats to him.

wanted Torrance in round 1 and somehow he slipped to round 2.

Great for us … but wonder why he fell in the draft ?

Had a lot of Round 1 buzz in the lead up..

Whatever the reasons … seems the teams got it wrong

Another victim of the fact that half the league wants to run the Kyle Shanahan offense without Kyle Shanahan. O'Cyrus isn't the natural bender or lateral mover that you generally look for in that scheme. And once you don't fit that scheme at the moment on offense the number of landing spots for you cuts almost in half. You go from 32 teams who could pick you to about 16.

Really solid rookie year. Some inside speed rush issues in the middle of the year - particularly when teams are putting their edge guys inside to attack his inside shoulder - but pretty solid. He gave up 3 sacks and 40 pressures. Trey Smith of the Chiefs, who is one of the best right guards in the league, gave up 2 and 34.

I'm one of those "no IOL or RTs in the first round" guys, but I absolutely loved the pick in round 2.

I also think that a majority of teams are of the don’t-ever-draft-a-guard-in-the-first-round-because-it’s-bad-value school, which also drove his final slotting.

Yea, for sure. A combination of positional value and limited scheme fit. I didn't have a 1st on him because you have to be an elite guard prospect for me to give you a 1st.

Very good run blocker. Struggled some in pass protection.

One of the reasons I don’t want much change on offensive systems and coaching is the entire starting OL is signed next year. I like that continuity. Keep the system, tweak it, add playmakers outside.

Kincaid didn't??  Or is it only one TE league wide??  Is there a 2nd team?

LaPorta probably deserved the TE spot, he posted mad numbers for a rookie TE.  Not sure why they picked 2 RB's instead of 3 WR's or 2TE's.  Passing league.

His struggles were very specific. He actually dealt pretty well with the big powerful DT types. His issues are against the twitchier guys and the outside rushers shunted inside on obvious pass downs. The concern is some of that is footspeed. But (without being an OL expert) I expect that there must be some technique stuff about how you set yourself on those downs to try and mitigate some of it?
