What if he says no? What are our options. I always heard NFL contracts were always a series of 1 year contracts....Id like him closer to WR average maybe 10-15M? You restructure him. Or a Post June 1 designation which spreads a 30M deadcap to the next two seasons, saving you about 12M in cap space this season, and carrying 15M in deadcap in 2025. I would much rather restructure him and see if he bounces back in a less needed role Quote
GunnerBill Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Jordan Phillips might retire??? Thank *****. One way to stop Brandon throwing more money at him. 1 2 Quote

Clearly. Noticeably. Restructuring $12M from the 2024 season would make his cap hits over $30 Million the next two years. He would be uncuttable. Untradeable. Un-anythingable. They also can't eat a 27M cap hit unless they think he can revert to form Quote

billsfanmd07 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I still think one of the worst extensions was Knox....We overpaid for his Angry runs and celebrity status....I would def try and package him to TE needy team at draft time. 1 Quote

Post June 1 cut/trade would make it a $13.5M cap hit. I realllyyyyyy hope we don't restructure him. We would have to keep him through the end of his deal. Quote

I actually think he's a good trade target because he's only got like 4.5M left in signing bonus, and the rest of his guarantees are roster and workout bonuses, which I think a team would take on. But at 14M cap hit I don't think it's a priority to move him unless the Bills get good value back. Bills have an out after 24 season as well which makes it very easy to cut him 3 minutes ago, Einstein said: Yeah they are in a bad situation. Post June 1 cut/trade would make it a $13.5M cap hit. Beck Water Posted January 22 Posted January 22 1 minute ago, Toledo Bill said: “Go where the money takes him”… he’s gone Probably so. But not definitely so. Floyd was cut by the Rams 2 years into a 4 year, $64M contract and wound up signing a 1 year, $7M "prove it" deal with the Bills (for which the Bills will take on a nice dead cap hit next season) I'm sure he'd like someone to pony up and offer his 31 year old self a multi-year, multi-million contract. Von Miller's Albatross of a contract at age 35 illustrates why teams may be reluctant to do so. 1 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted January 22 Posted January 22 4 minutes ago, appoo said: With Diggs you're adding 12M over the next two years, and with Von about 13M over the next 3 years. Bills lose some deadcap with that, pushing Von to losing ~3M if they cut him after next season, and Diggs you won't be able to cut until 2026 without burning too much deadcap Of course … if they cut them at the end of next year … you aren’t spreading that number out over multiple years … you really think Von is here another 3 years? Even cutting them both after 2024 with no restructure is a big number … … let’s see if Beane wants to keep adding to that Von - $ 15m dead cap Diggs - $22m dead cap Diggs is likely here to end 2025 with no further restructuring … You really want to still be paying him $20m plus in 2026? Einstein Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 1 minute ago, appoo said: And add that 13,5M to 25's cap Right. And the alternative is you make 2025 and 2026 a $30+M cap hit. Both options kinda suck haha. Quote

Mr. WEO Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Not sure Knox should play the rest of his career with Josh Allen He’s no longer a value play Quote
BananaB Posted January 22 Posted January 22 42 minutes ago, WhitewalkerInPhilly said: Did we watch the same game? yes, they had two 3 and outs. But the offense was very much clicking going into the 2 minute warning. After that, it was Allen gunning it to Shakir for a killshot rather than taking the easy check down to Diggs. Allen rolling right and not seeing the open guys (they highlighted it in the broadcast) and then a missed FG. I can't blame Brady for that, especially after creaming the Chiefs on TOP. Most people would consider going to your most reliable WR while he’s open in the endzone would be a smart play. Not Bills fans though, the best play is to cut it short and hope we have an another opportunity at the endzone in upcoming plays. Why? Because our defensive minded coach has let us down so many times late in games. 😂 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted January 22 Posted January 22 25 minutes ago, Ethan in Cleveland said: If Morse is back, then Bates needs to take a pay cut or just cut him. They should draft a center to develop in the mid rounds even if Morse returns If they can get a 5th for Cody Ford, then Bates can be traded for more than that … he is a starter on another team on two years of cheap money I still think there is a good chance they keep Bates next year and save some money by cutting Morse … They need to find a C in the draft who will be starting come 2025 when they will be paying Brown on his second contract Quote
appoo Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This is a year where I wish tanking in the NFL was more acceptable. Have Josh be "injured" for this season. Eat the dead cap space for Diggs & Von. Trade Mitch Morse and his expiring contract, have a 1 year try out for Bates at Center, Don't make any significant FA signing other than some random QB who can help develop young WRs some. Draft WRs and a safety and some interior depth Use your top draft pick in 25 to pick up another stud WR and have some fun in Free Agency Win SB in 25 as Josh gets both comeback player of the year and MVP Quote
