They need to make the call before the 2024 season starts …( by May actually) Its $13.8m according to this ..I think they pick it up to give themselves more time https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections Quote

thenorthremembers Posted January 25 Posted January 25 May as well pick up the option and see what he turns into as he builds muscle and strength. He is a very young player, will only be 24 at the start of next season. If you pick up the option, you essentially have a 24-year-old edge rusher with average production and high upside on a 2 year 17.5-million-dollar contract. He hasnt been elite like a member of this board promised he would be, but I am not sure you find 6 sacks a year from a free agent for much cheaper and Groot has already had time playing in the system. 2 Quote
Success Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Oliver took a step. Epenesa took a step. Hopefully Groot can too. Quote

Said it all along that he’s not a guy that’s going to win off the edge and get to the QB with any kind of regularity. He’s a good player for what he is though. Too bad he doesn’t know how to play the LBer position. Quote
philholbroo Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Only use the 5th year option as a little leverage to extend him. Would not actually use the 5th year for him as a DE. But do please extend him, he is good and don't need a carousel to continue at that position. Quote
gonzo1105 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I mean he was fine early, he was getting around Mahomes but then as the game went on there wasn't a pass rush really at all from any of them. Quote
Big Blitz Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) Amon-Ra St. Brown went in the 4th round of this draft. And Creed Humphrey 2 picks after Basham. Edited January 25 by Big Blitz Quote

Chaos Posted January 25 Posted January 25 The Dline disappeared entirely against the Chiefs in the season ending lost. I think every last one of them is replaceable. Quote
Comebackkid Posted January 25 Posted January 25 part of the last half of year sack droppage could be attributed to the injury scenaro with lbs and cbs. first half the year and a healthy back field and qbs were having to hold the ball longer.. Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Meh … solid run defender, disappointing pass rusher. Toolsy guy who hasn’t gotten to the next level given those tools. I liken him to a Phil Hansen without a Bruce Smith Quote

He has definitely underperformed and hasn’t played to the level we expected. One, he hasn't been bad and is undeserving of being demoted. Two, even if that was a thing that made even a little sense to be done - you are aware that Rousseau, Von Miller, and Kingsley Jonathan are LITERALLY the only DE's we have under contract, right? We already have to re-sign or replace Leonard Floyd, AJ Epenesa, and Shaq Lawson. You want to add Rousseau to the list too? Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted January 25 Posted January 25 The entire DL is Tarzan when playing against Jane, and Jane when playing against Tarzan. Quote

Green Lightning Posted January 25 Posted January 25 He's like Phil Hanson. And there's nothing wrong with that. Happy he's on the team. Quote
