Yeah well they gotta keep drafting them til they get it right. One of most important positions in football.

And, yet, we still win this game if we had receivers that could catch a football.

Even with those ineffective d-linemen.

With a healthier defensive back 7, I’ll take my chances with McDermott calling the defense.

GIVE ME SOME WIDE RECEIVERS.

Everytime they got pressure Mahomes could step around it & the back 7 couldn't hold up long enough. I wonder how long Mahomes was holding the ball on average. If it came out quick then that's how they neutralized the pass rush if not then yeah the D-line needs an overhaul.

Ironically Miller's name got called twice which was the most all season.

Sure we were beat up in the back 7, but the d line was fully healthy. McBeane has been absolutely relentless in pouring resources into the d line since they stepped foot in Buffalo. I don't think they came close to sniffing Mahomes tonight.

If Beanne does not upgrade the piss poor WR room he needs to be fired,  enough with endless money and resources for the defensive side of the ball so they can pee the bed when the playoffs arrive.

The Chiefs draft well, no question about it.   Rebuilt an entire secondary in about 1 year.

Yup and also got a beast of RB in 7 round

All the more reason it's pointless invest so heavily in a DL when elite QBs will pick you apart anyway.

The defensive system has to change, the zone sucks the good QBs pick it apart. Our last game every year is the same way, the QB drops back and throws to the openings in this crappy defense.

DE in round 1 is high probability imo.

DEs harder to find later in the draft.

no thanks.  need a WE.  we drafted Greg R.  in rd 1.  dude is average.

He was getting the ball out as soon as he hit his drop all night.

On the rare occasions our coverage was solid, he was quick to get out of there.

There were very limited opportunities for the pass rush to be effective and a big reason for that is that we were missing both our starting LB's, both our starting corners and Rasul was out there with a peg leg. You can't expect a DL to get home consistently in 2 seconds or less when there are guys running free all through the secondary.

You make good and valid points but you gotta admit, that was a pretty expensive one sack in terms of Miller and Oliver alone, no?

Something tells me Milano, Bernard, Tre and Benford make Mahomes hold the ball a .5 second longer.

I agree. To me, Milano was what was most egregiously missing yesterday. That was a huge loss. Bernard as well.

good God, NO.

If we lose AJE and Floyd in UFA are you comfy putting out a washed Von Miller and run blocking DE first in Rousseau as your pass rushers? Not me.

I haven’t seen AJ since October.

Rousseau is mid.

Oliver is a beast.  Same Jones.  But the interior of the KC line dominated them.

Creed Humphrey is one of the 3 best centers in the league.

Our DEs are a massive problem.  You can’t win SB with mid DEs.

Wouldn't break my hear if we never saw AJ undersized-Epenesa ever again in a Bills uniform.

More like they have a better DC and scheme than we do...

That's what Tua said.  Although he didn't actually SEE him.

Rousseau unfortunately did not have the breakout season that I expected him to have this year. He is possibly the best run stopping DE in the league and has been since his rookie season, but his pass rushing has not developed. 6.0 sacks in 18 games played is not what you hope for from a 1st rounder in his 3rd season.

I saw a stat that tonight was the first game since 2021 that Oliver had 0 pressures. The Chiefs have the best IOL in the league so this was somewhat expected. We needed our edge rushers to make an impact and it just didn't happen.

From the BN:

“Defensive tackle Ed Oliver had his lunch handed to him by Chiefs guard Joe Thuney. According to Next Gen Stats, Oliver had 10 one-on-one matchups against Thuney and failed to create a single pressure. Oliver and DaQuan Jones were held without a pressure on a combined 38 pass rushes.”
