But only mandatory for him, not the other 10 guys on the field.

The play was there, the WR was open, the blocking did not hold up.

After that I think Allen knew ahead of time on third down if he didn’t move the chains McD was kicking a FG. Is what it is. More then just Allen gotta make a play

Shakir didn't quite get through the coverage quick enough to uncover either. Which gave Jones an extra split second to get there. Didn't quite hold the block long enough. Didn't quite uncover quickly enough. Didn't quite make the throw.

We didn't quite execute. The play was there to make. Collectively as an offense they didn't make it.

I thought Josh rushed his decision making a bit on the 3rd down. Kurt Warner's point the other week that sometimes he just speeds his own process up to his detriment. If they had even got that to say 4th and 5 I think they'd have gone for it. Had to try and make the kick on 4th and 9. And then the kicker missed a very makeable kick.

There was lots that went right and lots that went wrong in the preceeding 58 minutes. But right the game ultimately was right there for us and we couldn't quite make that one play. It wasn't an individual failure and this is not a game where there is one obvious person to blame. Ultimately it was two good teams who played a high quality game and in the end the Chiefs made one more play than we did. The last 4 games between us have come down to 13 second, Taron's interception, Toney's foot and then that today. The games always come down to the end. It becomes who can just make that one extra play. Unfortunately it was not us.

i have no issue with sherfield's drop. diggs on the other hand, he gets paid to make those plays.

Trent Sherfield signed a 1 year, $1,770,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills, including a $300,000 signing bonus, $750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,770,000.  Spotrac

I have BIG issues with Sherfield and his pathetic season, was the 2 mil for his charity or something?.  We now only have 1 WR in Shakir.  Beane missed big time at WR this past offseason.  I blame him for yet again neglecting to help Josh enough.  Imagine if he would of signed DeAndre Hopkins.

Back to back years Beane whiffed at the WR position

I thought he was perfect until the last drive. Which I thought was his worst drive of the night even before the last two throws. Did the mental pressure get to him? Not sure. But he felt rushed all drive and it wasn't 'cos of tons of pocket pressure. However, he was not the reason we lost.

But what I take away from this game more than anything (other than Bass is done) is that they need more explosive players on the outside. They struggled to get chunk plays all night and that wasn't on Josh. Sherfield dropped two and while not easy Diggs should do better on the one that goes through his arms too.

Shakir had a nice game, Kincaid had a nice game, and but for the drop in the redzone (which didn't end up hurting) so did Cook. But it's okay dinking, dunking and running with tight ends, slot receivers and backs.... until at the end there where you need a play and KC is gonna defend the endzone. That is where you need more explosive outside guys to win a 1 on 1. They have to get aggressive in chasing that. Man having Jordan Addison on our team woulda made that drive look different.

Having Addison means no Kincaid and to me Kincaid is more valuable because of the production and position he plays.

I expect Kincaid to produce massive numbers next year. That was an A++ pick

I like Kincaid a lot. But I think an outside guy with speed is more valuable. Hopefully we find one in April and have both as cornerstones of the 2nd era Allen offense with Khalil Shakir.

We need to score a TD on that last drive right? He’s a HOF QB and we need a TD in that spot.

When Allen lost to Burrow last year know how many yards passing Burrow had in the second half the week before against the Ravens? 30. It’s the team not him

If you have two open receivers and two throws you can make, you choose the throw to the end zone.   Everytime.  Every situation.  Allen was bumped as he threw.   The pass was incomplete.   Calling this boneheaded or hero ball puts you in the category of the national talking heads who picked up phrases three years ago and haven’t paid attention since.

I’m not surprised Allen went to the end zone because Diggs had just dropped the last pass (maybe 2?)thrown to him. He couldn’t catch anything all night.

Or basically the last half of the season. I can’t even remember his last td.

7 points in the second half yesterday.  13 seconds he threw two tds in the last two minutes.  Why is this thread still going?   It’s like the Klein covering kelce of threads.

Allen was absolutely legendary tonight. Ran when he should have. Passed when he should have. Took the check down when he should have. He was darn near PERFECT.

67%, 258 total yards, 3 TD’s, 0 INT.

And against a top 5 Chiefs defense that was mostly healthy, unlike our mash unit.

Had Diggs and Sherfield played the game with NFL receiver hands, Allen would have had close to 400 yards of offense by himself.

And I don’t want to hear jack squat about his throw to the endzone on 2nd and 9. Allen had two good options on that play;

1) Shakir open in the endzone.

2) Diggs open on the crosser.

He chose Shakir, who had made several great catches during the game, over Diggs who had 2 drops during the game.

If Chris Jones didn’t push Dawkins into Allen’s side as he threw it, that would have been Allen’s 4th TD of the game.

Why do I believe he was better tonight that in the 13 seconds game? In that game, Allen by and large took advantage of the Chiefs falling over each other. Numerous slips and blown coverages. In this game, Allen was methodical tonight.

Golfers clap👏

As great as he was during the 13 seconds game, the Chiefs were a mess defensively, tripping over themselves as Einstein said, and he had support from the rest of the offense through the game. How many drops were there during 13 seconds? And last night? Arguably, he was a key component during 13 seconds but not the be all and end all. Last night, bar Kincaid early on, he had to do everything.

Having slept on it, I’m in two minds about the final drive, but can see why he threw deep. It’s a shame that’s going to detract what he did for through the rest of the game.

The fact that Josh has to do SO MUCH for this team to be in position to win, it worries me.   It's not sustainable for him to run like this and smash his body around and finish the season.  We got fortunate he didn't get injured this year and miss time.  KC and Mahomes at one point at 8 chunk plays to zero for Buf.  Mahomes makes good decisions in the pocket and throws accurately downfield...and of course last night his receivers decided to catch everything.  The Bills had to work so much harder to complete passes,,, and of course the WRs came up so small.

Sherfield is what you get when you go BARGAIN hunting and spend 1.7 million. that is reclamation project money.

Allen unnecessarily went into hero ball mode.

More than anything else, I think that is why we lost.

You’re embarrassing yourself

I don't understand how we keep beating them in the season. Yet, they keep beating us in the postseason. It boggles my mind. Only conclusion I come up with is one coach is made for postseason ball. Another...is not.

But no, Allen didn't get it done when it mattered most. Not all on him though. Team game.

Everything goes up a notch, injuries are more key and coaching really needs to go up a notch in the postseason because the pressure is up. Andy Reid owns McD in the playoffs.

Yep.

My fear is they won't get rid of the HC here until Allen hits a decline.

We will be a middle of the pack team. Probably win a few more division titles. Win a playoff game against some tomato can like Pittsburgh. Follow it up by losing to a team with a better HC.

So, middle of the draft picks. A HC that does enough to get to the postseason but do nothing. An owner unwilling to pull the trigger.

Pacheco was huge and didn't play in the regular season matchup.  Plus Mahomes is obviously a GREAT QB, throws on point and the receivers caught everything last night.  AT one point they had 8 chunk plays to our zero. KC's defense, while solid, got pushed around last night but they got some stops when needed.  And lucky with the Bass miss which may have only prolonged our agony another couple mins.
