BreezeMafia Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Take the Ball. So that to begin the 3rd qtr with the 2nd half and when KC decides to receive, the Bills choose which direction to kick off (hopefully right to left on TV). Ideally then in the 4th quarter giving Buffalo the wind at their backs (left to right on TV). Quote
TAinLack. Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Defer, give Mahommes a head splitting "welcome to Buffalo" with the home crowd going crazy! 1 2 Quote
Blackbeard Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Unless weather dictates otherwise, you always defer. And especially today, as 12th man will be at loudest at the start. Edited January 21 by Blackbeard 2 Quote
transient Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Depends on the game time decision injury report… I’d say defer if Douglas, Johnson +/- Bernard are active… otherwise, coin flip (pun intended) Quote
frostbitmic Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Win or lose the toss the Bills need impose their will on the Chiefs for 60 minutes. Defer ... Get Mahomes to throw a pick 6 in the first two minutes. Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Bills captains should conduct a major psy-op. Defer, and hand the KC captains a 20 pack of McDonald's chicken nuggets and fries to give to Reid. 1 Quote

Set the tone with an early TD drive, or give Mahomes first crack at it? What say you?? Defer. Quote
machine gun kelly Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The insanity of the stadium will be so deafening, it’s smart to defer. Then we get the ball in the 2nd half and hopefully we’re up by 21. 1 Quote
Low Positive Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I’m always in favor of deferring, but the beginning of the Divisional game last year is still in the back of my mind. Being down 14-0 before you see the ball a second time is the worst possible outcome. So, I can see benefits for both options today. Quote

Chaos Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) The "double dip" is a myth. Its an alternating possession game. If each team has the same number of possessions in the first half, neither team got an advantage, but that means the team who kicked off first ended with the ball. In the second half if each team has the same number of possessions, the team that kicked off has the last possession of the game, which proves critical time and time again. If the team who recievest the ball first in the half also has the final possession, that is the actual "double dip" because it means the recieve first team actually had one more possession. Defer or receive probably does not matter statistically. If you defer and get a 3 and out, that feels like momentum gained. If you receive and score, that fills like momentum gained. But in reality these guys are professionals, and momementum is not particularly important. To the pros each possession is the same, either a win for the offense, or a win for the defense. (maybe field goals are a tie) . Edited January 21 by Chaos 1 Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Score a 7.5 minute opening drive TD of course! Quote
Drew21PA Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Take it use the crowd and stuff it down their throats - make KC play from behind all day and good luck with the raucous crowd 1 Quote
zow2 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Maybe if KC wins the toss they take the ball? likely not since they believe in their D, but ya never know. Quote
Gugny Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I am normally a “defer” guy. But I want ball control in this game. Mahomes and Kelce can’t do sh*t watching from the sidelines. Quote
