Brady has taken him out of the gamelan a lot more, but that still doesn't account for the dropsies. He also takes himself off the field a ton. He's constantly waving for a replacement. Not sure what's up with that, but it was happening back when Dorsey was still here. Why has Diggs no showed in the playoffs the last four years? 1 2 Quote
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I'll want to wait a month or so before saying he's done to keep an eye out if it's all of a sudden announced he had some type of off season surgery, back related maybe?? Quote
Mango Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) If Diggs can find a way to be reasonably productive this year without causing a scene, the Bills should hold off on moving on and keep the $3M cost savings by keeping him here. Some interesting numbers in relation to Diggs cap. For reference red is bad. But his contract is absolutely workable this offseason if all parties NEED to walk away from each other. People freak out over the $31M as if it is in addition to. The post June 2024 number is interesting, and I think it could make Stef a post June trade candidate this year. 2024 Pre June: -$3M (+$22M in 2025) 2024 Post June: $19M (-$22M in 2025) 2025 Pre June: $5M ($28M in 2026) 2025 Post June: $18.5M (-13M in 2026) EDIT: There is zero place where discussing restructuring Diggs makes any sense. It should be removed from every single discussion of the Bills cap space from here on out. It didn't make sense 3 months ago and it makes much less sense today. Edited January 22 by Mango 2 Quote

Obviously, it should have been caught....ANY NFL receiver should make that catch. Sheeit, most top D1 college players would make that catch. Do the Bills practice catching balls during the week, at all? @Royale with Cheese LOL I think with Diggs, he's been nursing some dings and then showed up on injury report with a foot injury, he might not be running as many routes in practice. But the timing was there, the ball and Diggs were perfectly in the right place at the right time, he just wasn't able to close the deal. 16 hours ago, Tulsabillsfanz said: He is supposed to have hurt his foot. His problem tonight was his hands. He dropped 2 big passes. He also fumbled one one of his few catches. I've heard it said that catching a ball starts with the feet? 15 hours ago, Goin Breakdown said: He can spend the off season working on catching the ball. That's about all in are to say about him. Shut up and play better. This is where I am. Shut up and play better. Edited January 22 by Beck Water Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted January 22 Posted January 22 He had 160 targets and 100 catches, that is just too much for a 30 year old WR. Quote
Mr. WEO Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Come playoffs, spends more time showing out (clown suits) than showing up… Quote
filthymcnasty08 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Betting that he has had injuries .....not buying at all that he doesn't care, lack of effort, mailing it in....come on This guy has been the spark plug for 4 years. I have been cringing all year at some of the hits he was taking and marveled at how he would pop up in his signature style Something has been off with him, you can just see it. He's beat up, but always a gamer - if he can walk, he will play. Just wished he had caught that one last night. FK!!!! 1 Quote
Niagara Dude Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I thought the Bills made a huge mistake in giving him that much money when he was almost 30 and now that he will be 31 this season he cannot be expected to get you 100 receptions. Too many hits because he does not play outside Quote

It's divisional week of the playoffs. Everyone is injured. He's looked healthy on the field getting in and out of his breaks. His head coach even said a few weeks back that what's happening with him isn't medical and there's no medical issue. You're right though. Something has been off.... Quote
paulmm3 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Next season gonna be some weird vibes. No other team will want Diggs at his cap number. We can't cut him because of the dead cap. So he's gonna be playing for us. But now everyone thinks he's a overpaid bum. So he goes from the ultra-competitive star player to Albert Haynesworth in 12 months. Quote

Typo city there LOL I suppose I "got it" because it expressed my own frustrations about Diggs. Josh Allen famously tells WR he wants them to "get open and catch the ball". Get open - check, not as much as he used to Catch the ball - that's been more of a problem than you'd like to see from a #1 And while you're at it - after you catch it, hang on to it. Quote

Yep and stop with all that "this close" crap. I was put off by that last week and then he does it again. Right there I told my son "this dude doesn't care". There was no "my bad". Instead he almost congratulates himself on being close to catching it. Quote

His cap number is $27.85M. But a lot of that is signing and restructure bonuses. So to other teams, his cap # is $18.5M and he's under contract for 4 years. None of the $$ that go with Diggs is guaranteed until 3/17/2024. And, if they want to, other teams could renegotiate part of that $18.5M into bonus and spread it out over 4 years. A salary of $18.5M would slot Diggs in as the #15 WR in the league for annual average. Diggs is #6 in the league for targets, #7 for receptions, and #13 for yards. Especially if there's some back-story about Diggs being hampered by injuries, he could be attractive as a trade target, depending upon what Beane could get for him. He won't get a first, but if he could get a 2nd or 3rd, or do a player-for-player swap for a guy he thinks will do better here, I could see Beane going for it. 1 minute ago, Goin Breakdown said: Yep and stop with all that "this close" crap. peterpan Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Couldn’t we also trade Diggs away and move down in the draft? I remember the browns doing a trade like that a few years back. like our first and Diggs to the Texans for their 2nd or something like that. Quote

Pretty sure we have to eat it no matter what. Quote
DrMaxPower Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It's hard to understand WTF has happened to this guy. I really hope there was some hidden injury situation but it just doesn't make sense to me. All the swings/screens/hitches they ran to him felt like a desperate attempt to develop some engagement/buy in/effort. They are the last kind of play you'd run to a guy hiding an injury. If you have a WR on a reduced snap count due to being banged up, you make sure those snaps happen on critical 3rd downs. The number of time he checked out on 3rd down was maddening. I really hope somebody like Tim Graham is doing some digging because something is rotten and it's 1 of the biggest question marks coming out of another disappointing season. Quote
