As much as a feel for her family, I can't help feeling that Natalie did something stupid that got her into this mess.

I would guess that she voluntarily left with the males.  It's her fault.  I'm not trying to be cold, but she should have known better.

Either way, I'm already sick of hearing about it.  I agree, this is not national news.

I dont mean any disrespect to her family, but i have to agree with you. I read somewhere, i cant remember where, that she went out to a night club alone...thats something you just dont do ever, especially in another country...its just not safe...

I agree she did something stupid. I mean there were 120 other kids, probably half girls, who didn't end up dead. But saying she should have known better isn't really realistic, when you're talking about a stupid (they all are) 18-year old.

I don't know that I'd go as far as saying it's her fault, cut and dried. I doubt she had any intentions of being raped and murdered. I'd have to cast some blame on those who used her, and threw her away.

But, in an abstract way, look at how easy it has become for Americans, especially young Americans to become victimized.

Over recent years, this country has created, especially for those with some affluence, a mentality that bad things only happen on TV. And TV isn't real anyway.

We don't teach kids to look over their shoulder because collectively, most of us don't.

Count me in as being sick of having the entire country go into a frenzy every time a well-to-do WASP family misplaces their pageant daughter.

People go missing everyday and many never return. Just open your newspaper to the local news and you'll see at least one, I'd bet. But they're relegated to back pages of the paper, much less national coverage.

So that means if I can convince any foreign student to get into my car, I have free reign to do with her as I will and it will be her fault?

Awww-right

And, why are they "stupid"? How did they become that way?

I gotta disagree there. I'm 16! :flirt:

I'm also sure as hell not as stupid as she was.

It's genetic. Everyone is stupid during their teenage years, if not longer (and in certain cases, MUCH longer). :flirt:

Sorry Smoker2Buffalo. You may be the exception.

I should have known it would take a retarded piece of trash pats troll to twist my words like this. I didnt say it was her fault, and in no way am i condoning what the assailants did to her, this was a horrible event...but i am saying that people need to be careful in their actions, and you should do what you can to stay out of potentially dangerous situations...going to a club alone, especially in a foreign country is not the safest thing to do, thats my point...

I understand the point...but no. People didn't used to be stupid about other people because of their age. That is not a qualifier.

People are stupid now for different reasons. Mostly, because they think they can.

It was Ron's fault for returning Nicole's sunglasses.

Yeah, that's common practice. Most waiters go the home of a patron who happens to be beautiful, rich, and the ex of a former football star, to return their sunglasses. It's about as smart as getting drunk on a foreign island and driving off with 3 strange men. Not saying they deserved what happened, that it's right, etc., but keep yourself out of stupid situations and most of the time you'll be alright.

Ahh yes racism is such a good thing.

Thank you Mr. Hitler, Reverand Al Sharpton, General Lee, Jefferson Davis, or what ever critter who crawled out of the sewer you want to be today.

Did it on the wrong night, didn't he?

What's wrong with watching your tail? That's my problem, point, whatever. American's, for the most part, are stupid about life. With few exceptions, most of this country walks around with a big "V" on their forehead. It's for "victim", not victory. Your government helps it along (Congress), because they are worse hotpockets than many of us. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but legislation is pretty well centered into what makes people feel good right now. The stuff that might be good for us is what is deemed bad, fought, and paraded through CNN.

I understand, though. We must always feel good and have a perfect government that gives us whatever we want right now. We, the people, need never have an ounce of responsibilty nor should we ever sacrifice our rights to never have our library computer accounts checked.

Trade hidden porn for terrorist communications?

No, we must protect our porn.

heres what I dont get about the whole thing....why did the police in aruba overlook the "3 LAST people" to be seen with her and go after 2 guys that didnt even know what she looked like except for the news pic's?...wonder if it had anything to do with ther fact that 1- they(the 3 last ppl) are rich kids from a very rich part of the country, 2 - one is the son of a very high up judge in aruba....seems funny to me...took police like 5 days to arrest these guys while they went after the 2 security guards from a different hotel...just my .02

And Fox's sensationalism helps that situation how?   If she hadn't been an attractive blond, we'd never have heard of this sad situation...

Kerry lost. Get over it buddy.

Plus, CNN is covering the other major stories like that child abusing pervert Michael Jackson and gay rights marches.
