Another Fan Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I always like to have an idea. One of the main reasons why after the Chargers game I was still happy was because the Bills I know had a bad record versus them. Ditto Dallas. I feel it’s a source of pride now for me that rivalry if you want to call it that isn’t one sided anymore. 6-6 in regular season match ups. During the Josh Allen era it’s gotten better but for a while there it was bad against Pittsburgh. I think the Bills will win but yeah history sort of says it will be a tough game. Or does stuff that happened years back to you have no bearing on the future? Quote
RoyBatty is alive Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Maybe after Josh Allen/McDermott arrived but before that....zero, zilch, nada. Quote
Southern_Bills Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Only if it's the same coaches on both sides, players somewhat, but I think certain schemes can give teams issues. If the coaches ha e changed so have the schemes. 1 1 Quote
teef Posted January 9 Posted January 9 only if coaching/staff is still the same. the prior record against the pats means nothing anymore, but the current record againt the mcd run phins means something. 1 3 Quote
Mango Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I pay closer attention to recent historical match ups. Ie. McDaniel v. McDermott. Allen vs *Insert defensive coordinator/player* But I don't put a lot of weight in stuff like the Chargers v. Bills lifetime record. I get there are some weird stuff out there. I don't have a lot of good reason for it. I just expect that good teams overcome those quirks. Quote
QCity Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Coaching and QBs need to be the same. What happened 25 years ago means nothing. Quote
Just Jack Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Only if the majority of the coaching staff and players are the same. No way am I looking back at the Chiefs/Bills AFC Championship game back in 1993 as an indicator of how they will play today. Quote

BRH Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The fact that we are 51-28 against the Dolphins since 1987 and will be leading the all-time series in two or three more years makes me pretty happy. 2 Quote
julian Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Yeah only as far back as 2020 when Allen put the league on notice. Quote

I'm interested in our historical performance against opponents but I don't think the distant past is relevant as far as how the Bills will fare in the current day. Josh Allen's record against Miami gives at least some indication of how a game might go, but not 0 for the 70s. Quote

In modern nfl you tend to play teams in congpverrnce once every 3/5 years and 6/8 years on the road. Teams roster tend to change over significantly over 6/8 years. Quote
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I feel like this is especially true with us playing the Dolphins…just like Marino never made it past Kelly head to head when it mattered, Tua hasn’t been able to get past Allen when it matters… Quote
Governor Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I do think that McD has Lamar’s number and that would continue if we end up facing them. 1 Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The only stat right now is 5-1 against playoff teams. Quote
