Monday night must be a 4 vs 5 match up because the schedule opponents is set after Sunday nights game where the MNF winner plays on Sunday. 2/7 and 3/6 winners determine 4/5 opponent. Monday night winner WILL play on Sunday the next weekend it was eagles at bucs or browns at Texans. Given abc did the Texans they probably wanted the nfc game. Quote

This year, the AFC and NFC can have their divisionals all on one day (like both AFC games on Saturday and both NFC games Sunday) since there are four networks involved: CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC/ESPN. (It used to be 1 NBC, 1 FOX or CBS, and 2 for the the one that was not FOX or CBS.) The NFL prefers a 4v5 for Monday, but it could have been a 3v6, for example. In that case, both same-conference games would have to be on one day (most likely on a Sunday to allow for better rest, but we don't know that for an absolute fact). ----------- Second (unrelated) post: I believe the Dolphins and Chiefs will be the first teams to play each other twice in a season with neither game being on an OTA channel outside of home markets (first game was on NFL Network in Germany and the second one is on Peacock). Yep, we had them four times this year (including three weeks in a row for us: Weeks 11, 12, and 14--bye on Week 13). We are 3-1 with them broadcasting: Week 4 vs. Miami (win) Week 11 vs. New York Jets (win) Week 12 at Philadelphia (loss) Week 14 at Kansas City (win) Also thanks for reminding me. I will post this in my OP. Quote

chongli Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 (edited) 2 hours ago, Ryan Simpsons said: @chongli since its the playoffs, AFC will always be on CBS and NFC on FOX? This year, yes. In years where the rotation has two CBS or FOX games for WC weekend, not necessarily. We don't know the details of the future contracts. In 2021 there was 49ers-Cowboys on CBS in the WC round when CBS had two games, but that may change next season when CBS has two WC games. And for the divisionals, the four games will be on four different networks this year (and in the future): FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC/ESPN. So FOX and CBS are contractually guaranteed a game from their respective conferences, but for NBC and ABC/ESPN, it can be either, like always. Edited January 8 by chongli Quote

I stand corrected. On further research: both legs of Panthers/Buccaneers in 2019 were on NFLN (Week 2 TNF, Week 6 morning game in London). And the Oilers/Steelers in 1990: front leg (Week 2) on TNT and back leg (Week 17) on ESPN. Quote
chongli Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 (edited) NBC is airing an extra-long post-game show after their afternoon Saturday game to bridge the gap to their evening Peacock game. They don't want viewers to switch away. Most Eastern and Central Time Zone stations will air this post-game show, but Mountain and Pacific Time Zone stations are balking, as they planned to show their usual 5 or 6 PM locals news at this time. chongli Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 UK and Ireland TV schedule just added to the OP. All games are live on Sky Sports NFL. (Notes: Sky Sports Main Event will not have MIA-KC due to boxing from Quebec, and will join PIT-BUF in progress after Man United vs Tottenham in the Premier League.) Quote

I wonder if he will be on for "Special Teams analyst'' or in the booth with Nantz/Romo. would be nice to see Gene Steratore in the booth to add some insight as well. any thoughts? Feely will be on the sideline as a "kicking reporter". He will only appear on TV a few times for kicking situations, following the offense between the 20 yard lines. He won't be doing any sideline reporting like Wolfson. He is also not in a CBS crew that is high enough to be added as an in-booth PxP analyst. We'll probably hear from Stertore more often, whenever there is a rules situation that needs explanation.Nice to have him on site rather than in the studio. 1 Quote
chongli Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 UPDATE: Extra sideline reporter for PHL-TB on ESPN/ABC: Laura Rutledge (in addition to Lisa Salters), per NFL Capsules: https://nflcommunications.com/Documents/2023 Football Information/Capsules/Wild Card Capsules.pdf 1 Quote
chongli Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 (edited) Due to the postponement of the PIT-BUF game, The NFL Today (pre-game show for CBS) will still be one hour long, occurring at 3:30 PM Monday now. Schedule in the OP has been changed. Edited January 13 by chongli Quote
chongli Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Here is the CBS schedule for Sunday. They are showing the replay of the AFCCG last year of CIN-KC instead, as well as The NFL Today at noon: Quote
chongli Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 (edited) In the UK, Sky TV NFL will still show the game live, Monday, January 15 at 9:30 PM GMT, with Sky Sports Main Event joining in progress at 10 or 10:30 PM most likely. Since Sky Sports Main Event is joining i progress since it is simulcasting Derby County vs Burton from Sky Sports Football until 10:30pm. All things being equal an NFL playoff game would be the "main event" over an EFL League One match, but given the timing, I expect Main Event will just drop the drop the post-match coverage and switch at full time (notionally 10 PM) to join PIT-BUF in progress. chongli Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Fox NFL Sunday (Fox pre-game show) will still be on for 30 minutes at 4 PM Sunday and will nor be expanded to 3:30 as some had wondered. They are prohibited from doing so as It's still CBS's window and they're airing a replay of last season's AFC championship game. Quote
