Carolina? I don't see that he has any trade value whatsoever. Maybe a total rebuild team would take him if we give them some picks too ha. Like the famous Brock Osweiller trade to Cleveland. But they were in full tank. I don't see a team out there in that space. Quote
BuffaloBill Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Have to trust the coaches on this one. Von has looked to be a mere fraction of his former self so far. 1 Quote

Pretty terrible if you ask me. Just because you don’t recall it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Rewatch the KC game. He had 2 pressures on 3rd down that led to incompletions mid game and then he took Mahomes down the play after Toney’s Offside. Mahomes got rid of the ball just as he was about to hit the ground. Josh Allen probably would’ve been called for grounding in the play. other than those plays, he hasn’t done much of anything- I agree. He’s been bad. It’s most likely my lack of belief in Jonathan coupled with my belief that Von Miller will be a capable player at some point. I don’t know when that will be, but the playoffs would be ideal. again, I get why everyone would rather have him on the bench. When he’s bad, he’s bad. Quote
CSBill Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Was he missed last week? I don't think so. Let him heal; hopefully, he can come back and contribute next season. 1 1 Quote
Pirate Angel Posted January 3 Posted January 3 He isn’t recovered, trying to get something out of that contract is hurting the team. 1 Quote
billybob71 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 i don't think he plays this week. we will see alot of AJ tho as he has a knack for disrupting those quick wr screens and Miami runs alot of them Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I say yes. I have seen him pop in plays even if not in the stat sheet. Last week the worry was that he'd be a liability in the run game. This week, we need pressure on Tua and we need it fast. Give me all of the pass rushing specialists. The only way I see him not active is if he just completely dogs it in practice, in which case we just have to cut him at the start of the new year. Quote
atlbillsfan1975 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I still think he is going to make a game winning play this year. Quote

Kmart128 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Im gonna say Yes and yes... i think we rested him a week to make sure he will be 100% for this game. And I think Von coming off his injury could really benefit from a week off. We said preseasom we just need him for the stretch run and playoffs. I feel we are treating Sunday like a playoff game. However if Bills climch before SNF i can see another healthy scratch to get him some more rest for the playoffs Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I am hoping the sit this week was just rest so he can be ready for the Dolphins, but this might be it for him because with a few exceptions this year he has been our worse DE in most games. Quote

Yeah I mean the mention of Jonathan is in a joking manner. Realistically. There should just be a 3 man rotation between AJ, Floyd, Groot. Maybe sprinkle a little Lawson in there on obvious run downs. I generally don’t have a need for Jonathan at all. But I’d rather a guy with some fire try and get in there bs a guy that looks like he’s completely packed it in. It’s not just his lack of effectiveness on plays that bothers me about Von. It’s his complete lack of effort that he gives. Just watching him go all out for 2 steps then standing upright when he knows he’s out of the play bothers me more than anything. Looks like he has zero care out there. Quote
bmur66 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) I only noticed Kingsley doing his Von impression taking the scenic route around the QB. Didn't notice much other than that so it's a toss-up I guess. Maybe getting deactivated will light a fire under his arse. Edited January 3 by bmur66 Quote
stlbills13 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Are there any contract implications if he gets hurt? Quote
Beast Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) When the goal is to make Tua hold the ball just a tad longer than he is used to you don’t dress a player that has to double back to possibly get to the QB. You need ends to rush directly and get their hands up. That’s not Miller, especially right now. This game, more than any game, Miller should not be dressed. Edited January 3 by Beast Quote
T master Posted January 3 Posted January 3 As we have all seen in younger players cases when they come back from a ACL well other than AP that it takes time after they come back to get back to their old selves on the field just as it did with Tre he played last year but didn't get back to himself until this season . So at Von's age i'm thinking it might take him this year just to get back close to the player he was before the injury . I wish there was a out in his contract for a bit of cap relief next season but he or most likely any other player wouldn't restructure for less over all money so were stuck for at least another year with him . We can only hope he comes back next season and plays like he was prior to the injury 🙏 . Quote

I do not think he will be. I think we've seen him in a Bills uniform for the final time this year. And perhaps ever. Too expensive to cut. Von will be back in 2024 season. Hopefully he will find his mojo again. Quote
RunTheBall Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I’d have no problem activating Von for this game over Jonathan. If we are relying on the 5th DE to win a game for us then we are done anyway. Let’s see if an extra week of rest makes any difference, but the key is to limit his snaps and not to have him out there in high leverage situations. If he shows a spark and makes a play or two, then keep him active for the playoffs assuming we win. If he’s his typical Non Miller self, then deactivate him for the rest of the season. I don’t think we cut him quick. They will give him next off season to get back into form and use training camp / pre season to evaluate. The money is just too much not to give him every chance to round back into form. 1 Quote
buffaloboyinATL Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I said no on #2, but probably not is my true answer. It all depends on how he looks in practice, and if they believe he can start contributing. To me, he has started showing signs of improvement, but he is still nowhere near his old form. He may get there next season, but it is still way to early to tell. Quote
SectionC3 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I’ll put on my conspiracy theory hat. His performance has basically been bad all year. Yet they didn’t sit him down until after the press conference in which he minimized the nature of the DV charges pending against him. Part of me wonders whether that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and they just decided to sit the guy until they can get rid of him in the offseason. Quote
