There's no shortage of bulked up QBs at the college level that could come in and play like a bowling ball if we wanted that 1 Quote

With the extra late picks and what looks a decent class this is the time to swing on a backup QB. 5th round on. And not a Jake Fromm type. Get a guy with some upside not a guy who is undersized and maxed out in college. 2 Quote

But this raises a key issue -- do you want Kyle Allen starting a game? Given the way Josh plays, its only a matter of time before he gets a injury that has him sitting on the sidelines for a while. We all saw this year that a capable backup can take you pretty far. We need to be in a better position next year. Can we just stop this made up narrative? Literally every other QB in the league has been out the past 2 or 3 years except Allen. Nobody says anything about Lamar and he is injured a lot more and has a very slight frame compared with Allen. Nobody says anything about Hurts and he has missed games in both of the last 2 years. And I don't want to hear any Cam Newton nonsense either. Cams shoulder injury which derailed his career was caused by a car accident not in the field. 1 2 Quote

Anyone with a room temperature IQ could tell Josh was a little "banged up" at the end of the game, dont need the "breaking news" from NFL Network. And no right now it is not a "key issue", game Sunday is the key issue, not next years backup QB. Quote

Teams draft QB's in late rounds when either they don't have an established starting QB or they basically have no other needs for the pick. Think the Bills best plan is to keep doing what they've been doing, sign an experienced QB who is at the point he's not getting a starting QB job in the league. But maybe go for someone with a little better skill set than Kyle Allen. Mitch may be available again or the guy they had last year, but someone of that level. Quote

For anything over vet minimum it’s too much considering the cap strapped hell we will be in. Not to mention, that pretty much no matter what, If Allen goes down we’re not going anywhere anyway. With all the resources spent on the defense, I’m sure McD thinks his defense can get him through those rough times. Quote

KingBoots8 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I think you’d have to draft one currently as we can’t sink an excessive amount of money to a backup position due to cap limitations. If Josh misses a week or two we might survive, but any sort of long-term absence is a nail in the seasonal coffin. Better to suck and get a good draft out of it than finish with 8 wins and miss both the playoffs and elite draft talent. We’ve gotta win the Super Bowl this year first, so we can worry about this in April 😏 Quote
Don Otreply Posted January 2 Posted January 2 We have way more important needs to address than back up QB…, GO BILLS!!! Quote
