Wins this week I’m back on board but still feel he needs to learn.

don’t want to fire him though if he navigates and leads this team back to the playoffs after being 5-5

but again he needs to finish and have this team FUELED AND READY

sunday night it’s on let’s go!

Has anyone changed their opinion of him over the last month?

This will be an emotional weekend. I’m prepared for a lot of McDermott threads Sunday night if things go poorly. I want to see how we’re feeling entering the biggest regular season game of his head coaching career.

Haven’t changed my opinion. He’s a damn good coach who deserves to be back next year. Even if we lose next week.

That doesn’t do anything to make me feel better about McD’s ineptitude in managing the clock.

Sounds like a personal problem now doesn’t it…, 😂

If we beat Miami and get to the playoffs and make it to the AFC championship game at minimum, I say keep him. Missing the playoffs should be absolutely fireable  at a minimum if that comes to happen (I can understand keeping him if we get to the playoffs and lose in the divisional round like always). McDermotts coaching and team building is why we have the issues we do. Disproportionate amount of resources have been invested in a defense that blew the first Patriots game, Broncos game and Eagles game that if we win, has us with a great record right now. Our offensive struggles have a lot to do with his poor choice of OC's and not spending enough resources on the offense to get another stud receiver and better o line.

Nope. Haven't been impressed at all as we've skated by the skin of our teeth against mostly bottom dwelling opponents. The problem with mcDermott isn't his ability to rack up wins in December. It's his inability to employ strategy and tactics to do so in January and February.

I don’t think he can outcoach his competition. If you gave every coach in the league the exact same team and played a full season he’d be bottom third to middle of the pack at the end of the season.

My opinion has not changed. He is not getting any better. His defense melted down in multiple games this year. The offense is getting worse not better. I still don't think we win a SuperBowl with him as head coach. I don't like the way he has treated Diggs.

If they lose to Miami and don't make the playoffs they should fire him.

That will not happen. We are stuck with him for another year.

My opinion has changed ZERO.  Nothing that has occurred since the firing of Dorsey has changed McDermott in any way.

Back when we were losing, MANY posters here said "At this point, we have to win the AFC Championship game for me to reconsider my position with McDermott" or similar.

I really hope McDermott remains on the hot seat regardless of how this season plays out.

The goal here is not to heroically make the playoffs...the goal should be winning MULTIPLE SUPER BOWLS while Josh Allen can still play football.

McDermott remains an "0 for" in that regard, and this season is likely to be the same.

There have been FOUR head coaches in the modern NFL free agency era who have won more than one SB. Belichick, Reid, Shanahan and Coughlin. Im not counting Jimmy Johnson, as his two Cowboys teams were built prior to the introduction of NFL free agency. So youre setting the highest of high benchmarks for McD, which really is unfair.

Beyond that, there seems to be this pervasive thought in WNY that some sort of "perfect" coach is out there. Young, dynamic, and free of faults. We are looking for a unicorn here.

If there was a proven offensive mind out there I'd say maybe. Yet the truth is there isn't. Sure we can hope to catch lightning in the bottle like the OC in Houston but who is he bringing on as DC? There are so many variables and change for change sake isn't always a make for improvement. See Marrone for Rex Ryan as much as disliked Marrone I disliked Ryan more as he didn't play to his player strengths. Something I think McDermott has done but doesn't get enough credit for.

We should check in on if Tyler Dunne’s opinion has changed.

anyone seen him hanging around a Wegmans parking lot?

probably will chime in if the Bills lose the WC game….

They are not changing no matter what happens vs the fish.  A lot here are fanatical and evaluate results vs decisions and don’t actually have a clue what goes into the job.   When results are bad they should have done something different.

Always felt his defensive prowess and motivational skills were excellent. The team plays hard for him and seems prepared. His problem is game day decisions and his reliance on defense to end games. He got some great plays from Oliver to save the Chargers game and Martin was an absolute star with clutch incredible punts which smothered the Pats. If the offense starts playing like they’re capable of, Sean will be OK.

Interesting that no one brings up the Jets loss. We win that first Jets game (which Josh lost for us), and we’re tied with Miami for the division lead and have the tiebreaker. But, hey, can’t be a Josh problem. Was the 12 men on the field a coaching issue? Sure. Was the Jets game a Josh issue? Yep. By the way, Josh has started a new interception streak.
