As our number of wins goes up, our odds of getting an immediate impact WR2/future WR1 in the draft goes down…Higgins seems like he would be a nice fit here. Nope. He's going to be paid ridiculous WR1 money from someone to be their WR1. We're 41.4m over the cap. And while Beane surely has plans in place to make moves to get us under the cap (in conjunction with the expected rise in cap in 2024), we still have a lot of holes that will need to be filled. Like the fact that Von and Rousseau are the only DE's we have under contract next season and Oliver is the only DT under contract. And that's just part of it. We simply cannot afford to pay extravagantly for someone like Higgins with the other things we have to do. Expect a trade up in Round 1 for a WR to pair with Diggs, Kincaid, and Shakir. Hopefully they're a difference maker that catches on quick. 1 Quote

But if teams felt he had that potential he wouldn't have gone in round 5. With Kincaid basically serving as a slot receiver as well there is going to be a limiting overlap of snaps to some extent there. If Jordan Addison had fallen to the Bills in round 1 as they seemingly hoped........then maybe Shakir would have had a mid-career Beasley type season or something. Agree totally with this. Quote

I just think we need someone who can come in and make an immediate impact because it looks like Diggs is no longer a real WR1, as incredible as that seems. Quote
BearNorth Posted January 1 Posted January 1 A fascinating player in the draft is Oronde Gadsden II. He's 6-5 225, but runs a 4.5. Obviously has good bloodlines and was coached in HS by Patrick Surtain. Know his dad played for the Fish, but that could be an interesting weapon for Josh. Started out as a WR and supposedly has solid ball skills. Quote

Warriorspikes51 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) Shakir has had a handful of massive receptions that were not easy catches the last few games. Any of which, may have changed the games if not completed. 1 hour ago, BillsFanForever19 said: Nope. He's going to be paid ridiculous WR1 money from someone to be their WR1. We're 41.4m over the cap. He offers more on the boundary than Beasley did too. He needs more slot reps. But I do agree Kincaid limits his targets with how much Kincaid plays there Quote

I think Shakir and Kincaid could coexist in our offense if Knox wasn’t in the picture, or if we weren’t so invested in running away from the 11 personnel that we were so successful with just a few years back. Slot-only is a much less valuable result than being a boundary WR or position versatile. I don't think many, if any, teams that passed on him are surprised by 500 yards of production for him in year 2. Slot WR are like RB's........easy to find and well supplied.......they are expected to produce quickly and ideally be able to return punts and/or kicks. See Demario Douglas with NE yesterday. He has 548 yards receiving and was a 2023 6th round pick. As for offering more on the boundary than Beasley........maybe?........but that's not saying much. Quote

Spend what little cap money we'll probably have on D. Try to re-sign Floyd / DQ with a little discount sprinkled in. I'm letting AJE & Gabe go test the market. Quote

But after we hopefully win on Sunday, that's probably too far to move up to - even with our extra picks. Edited January 2 by BillsFanForever19 Quote
