Hit Me Baby One More Time

The Knack was ripped off IMO. They were awesome.

The guy with the SNL song, can't remember his name was lame, especially with Toxic. :(

Tommy Tutone rocked too. They were good.

The Motels were ok. Boring songs though.

Vanilla Ice was pretty good too but I though his "cover" of Survivor by Destiny's Child was a cheap way to promote his new song. He rocked but I still think The Knack was the best.

Yeah, you're probably right but come August all I'm going to see is the "Armed Forces Network" for 7 or 8 months if I even get a chance to watch tv in Iraq at all. I'm just enjoying it now. (Plus I'm a sucker for 80's bands) ;)

Ever been to the Middle east?

Get out and enjoy green things like trees and grass whilst you can.

It's liek traveling to Mars. God bless you and your fellow Marines. Make sure you take care of yourself.

Yeah, I've been there. I get plenty of "grass time" trust me. I'm always outside but like to relax in front of the tube in the evenings. Then I'm trying to get 7 months worth of tail later.... :( My wifes cooperating so far.... ;)

Absolutely riveting television.

I thought the Knack and Tommy Tutone both kicked ass with their hits, however I thought both their cover tunes were sub-par. The Knack covering Jet could have been a good fit, but if you can't hit a note, don't cover the tune. Tutone is awesome, but covering Blink-182? Gag. Never-the-less, they were the only true "bands" last night.

That wasn't the Motels. That was Martha Davis with a bunch of 23 year olds backing her. It's a shame, because the original Motels were a pretty solid new wave band that got overshadowed by the marketing of Martha by MTV. That being said, her Nora Jones cover was great. Speed up the song, give it some balls...she just can't bring it, though. She was overshadowed by her band, and her vocals were too high in the mix.

Haddaway...wow. His hit has been solidified as a SNL parody of dance music, but I thought his voice has survived pretty well. I thought his cover of Brittney's "Toxic" blew her version away, and I'm sure it will be on I-tunes in a week. That appearance may revive his carreer.

Vanila Ice. Nice Eminem imitation, and clearly good enough to sway the brain-dead music fans of today.

All-in-all, a hugely enjoyable hour of TV.

You liked that? You could barely hear him over the track. It sounded to me like a bad karaoke performance. I will agree though that his voice sounded good on his original song.

Agreed. We now have Arrested Development and Vanila Ice in the finals of a competition where the only reason people were watching was to see real "BANDS" PERFORM THEIR OLD MUSIC. These rap hip-hop lovin' voting audiences suck bad.

Eminem imitation............dude Ice was out years before em every thought about rapping........and he DID not imitate anyone .........SO I dont know what you were watching or if you EVER did watch Ice before last night

I wish he had kept the Survivor Song more orignal than changing it

TOMMYTutone was the most worthless garbage on that stage........he was either too nervous or on drugs......the guy even forgot and changed lyrics to songs LOLOLOL and NOT on purpose lol

Haddaway's voice is nice still and I love the toxic bit

and Knack were good both times....

Motel well, she still has it but her style just isnt around anymore

I had the misfortune of seeing Vanilla Ice, and I stand by my original statement. That was not your older brother's Vanilla Ice out there. That was Rehabilitated Ice, trying to add an edge to a historically "soft" image. Anybody that compared the original song to the song he performed last night would agree. Subtracting white parachute pants for arm-length tats does not give you street cred, IMHO.

i heard on cnn this morning that the show only had a 3 show contract.  They said that it had some good ratings, so hopefully it will be extended.  I'm really pulling for a new kids on the block reunion.

I really liked My Sharona, but they blew it with the 2nd song.

Haddaway was Baddaway

Tommy Tutone rocked too. They were good.
I though they were the best for a live performance.

The Motels were ok. Boring songs though.
I agree it was Martha and her kids band. Good job on Only the Lonely, but too soft a mood to get any votes.

Vanilla Ice was pretty good too but I though his "cover" of Survivor by Destiny's Child was a cheap way to promote his new song. He rocked but I still think The Knack was the best.
Ice's schtick now is shouting his songs (according to my son, anyway). He sucked but the young audience liked imitation rap the best.

Yes, it has been said that if the show gets good ratings it will get an extension. I watched last night only to see Tommy Tutone, The Knack, and (I admit it) "Vaniller" Ice, as the MC called him. ;)

I wanted to see how badly Ice sucked.

I saw no reason to watch last week or next week.
