boyst Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 i don't think a lot of those guys deserve it. Jared Allen is the closest to maybe should. But def not Reggie Wayne, Torry Holt, Freeney, Allen, Hester. Taylor I want to see the stats on but probably a no, same with Woodson. Evans and Anderson - yes because they are OL. Probably on Andre Johnson and Gates. Yes on Peppers, Willis. The NFL Hall of Very Good is not The Hall of Excellent anymore. Quote

I am obviously biased but the man was a beast in the middle and was a huge reason for more than 1 Patriots SB. That and as a person he is a pretty awesome guy! 27 minutes ago, SageAgainstTheMachine said: Guys I used to draft in fantasy football are heading to the HoF and I feel old. Dude some of the guys from my first fantasy draft are already in the HOF.. lol 1 Quote
Utah John Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 One simple rule: No special teams player (as their primary role) gets in until Steve Tasker does. Not even kickers, which the HOF seems to like. 1 Quote

He was the best player on what was a top 2-3 defense every year. This is why I hate stats. On tape and on Sunday Willis is the focal point of any offense. Then some bum on a bad defense can make 120 tackles a year 6 yards down field and now he's supposedly better in the history books. 🤷 I’ll give you tackle numbers not being the important thing, but what I’m trying to say is the “dominant” part of his career is not long enough for HoF. It’s why we don’t talk about JA and HoF yet - everyone knows he has a long, long way to go to prove that. In 20 years, people will still talk about Ray Lewis and LT. Nobody outside SF is going to remember Willis - he is Hall of Very Good material. Quote

Nobody outside SF is going to remember Willis - he is Hall of Very Good material. Have to agree to disagree, his entire career was the dominant part. He chose to retire early to preserve his health. His biggest downfall is he isn't and never was a media guy. If he kept himself on shows and in the media like Ray (and for the record I'm taking nothing from Ray he was a great player) he would still be remembered. He didn't do alot of interviews when he was in the league and surely doesn't in retirement. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Pretty underwhelming list of players. To me the only lock is Gates. Not as good as Gronk, Kelce, or Gonzalez but he is probably in the top 5 or 6 TE of all time. Peppers with 159.5 sacks will make it in as well. I just don't think he was ever truly dominant like so many other HOF. Quote
frostbitmic Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 They seem to only take 1 player at any given position so ... TE - Antonio Gates ... WR - Reggie Wayne ... 1070 receptions, 14,345 yds, 82 TDs ... These numbers are all better than Holt and Johnson DE - Julius Peppers RT - Willie Anderson ST/WR - Devin Hester Quote
