Does the Bills Fan Base Need to Cut Miller Some Slack?

Whatever the case, my only gripe is limiting his reps. He can be on the 53 but should be a healthy scratch more. Get him better reps in practice and use him now and then, but I'd like more active reps from the other guys. 

 

Also, gripe more w/ coaches here. They can let Von get in there on pass downs and when we have big leads. Not sure why he is in there on run downs.

I read the first part of the title, and I was thinking to myself, “there’s a way for us fans to cut a player?… I’m listening. Then I saw the ‘some slack’ part. This thread got disappointing before I even opened it.

Maybe Von can repay the Bills by extending his contract a few post injury years for the league minimum. About what he has been worth this year. That way he'll have a chance to actually earn all that cash!

The Bills should have left him on IR the entire season.  I guress they thought he'd play himself into game shape.  Which is crazy since they see him every day in practice and know what he can and can't do.

 

The only real question now is whether they cut him during the offseason.

You really think that’s the only question?    As if there is zero chance he will ever be a contributor again?  I don’t think he’ll ever be worth his salary, but I do think he’ll be worth rostering next season.

Playing with Von this year is like playing 10 players versus 11.

 

Von can’t set an edge, is easily blocked, and runs himself out of plays.  
 

This year Von is slower, weaker, and playing with less bend.

Middle of the page, looks like Von has the attention of 2 blockers to me. This play resulted in a sack.

 

Was this a designed double team? I don’t know. Is it happening every play, no. Does he need to improve, yes. Will he get better in the playoffs? Probably and hopefully.

We wouldn't save anything against the cap, but Pegula would save $32M.  That's money that could go for a lot of other things.

I guess I should’ve went a little more in depth.  Not only would we not gain any cap space-  we would actually lose an additional 9M in cap space….. from 23M cap hit to 32m

And that’s not the only time.  Can’t recall if it was LAC or Dal, but I recall at least one rep where he was rushing from the left side and was doubled

Given the injury I have to imagine he'll be a good player next year. The hope is that when we're still playing a month from now, he has recovered enough to start making an impact.

Miller shoujld rehab in the practice dome, not in the games.   Playing him is wishful thinking on the part of the Bills.  Perhaps another (last) year of his contract will bring some production.  He is useless out there.

It's not like people think he's washed because he's being lazy. He's washed because he washed. He's too old to come back from a career threatening injury. It happens. ACLs have ended lots of careers of guys much younger than Miller.

Honestly at this point I'm just hoping he's ready for next season. If he's admitting his knee isn't where he wants it to be, it's probably too late to expect it to suddenly turn around this year.
