I’ve always been fascinated by stories of regular people facing extraordinary historical events beyond their control, particularly in wartime and at  Christmas time, a traditional time of goodwill/reconciliation. I stumbled across this while researching the better known WW1 “Christmas Truce” of 1914, and hope you enjoy this story that highlights a promise of peace even in midst of the darkest of hours…

This is a great story. Thanks for posting it.

 

I spent one Christmas away from home when I was in the Army. I was in Germany during the Cold War, so I was never in any danger.

 

Christmas greetings to all of our combat veterans on the board. Thanks to all of you.
