Big Blitz Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Been playing in their 3-4 not sure if he’s a fit here. But down to Oliver Settle Joseph and Practice squad guys till Jones is back has to be looked as an option? Probably going to 49ers who are a mess up the middle right now with their injuries. 2 Quote
GoBills808 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 are they even going to be able to field a team 1 2 Quote
Saxum Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Sebastian Joseph signed a three year contract with the Los Angeles Charges worth $24 million with $16.5 million guaranteed. https://overthecap.com/player/sebastian-joseph-day/7080 Chargers have apparently determined he is not part of team next year and if someone picks up contract it relieves them of burden. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoseSe00.htm 1 Quote

Would've been a great pickup before they signed Linval. Now with Jones coming back they would just have too many DT’s especially considering Phillips injury doesn’t seem to be long term Quote
Saxum Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Issue is not signing him assuming you have the space but assuming the contract guarantees. Likely teams will contact him and determine if he is a match and when he clears waives will offer to sign him at a lower contract. Agent may want a contract only for a year so he can re-enter free agency and will tell teams he is already going to get paid this year so only if being on team advances his career. 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Is being waived the same as being cut? And if so is his former contract no longer active? And he is in effect a FA? Enlighten me because I don’t know how the tangled world of contracts works thanks in advance 👍 1 Quote

If somebody claims him off waivers, they pay the remainder of his current salary. If he's not claimed, he becomes a FA & can sign for any amount offered. 4 1 1 Quote
Zag20 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Played with Von on the Rams in 2021, so a likely promise he will be signed upcoming 1 Quote
Warcodered Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Wondering if this would be kind of messed up in that being right before the weekend he's not going to get signed to a team before this weeks games instead if it had been at the start of the week. Not sure how that works with game checks and what not with what they owe him still until he gets resigned. Quote

Teams will have to claim him in 24 hours regardless is they are playing a game on Saturday or not. If you claim him, you pay him would seem to be the rule. Having him waived when they did, seems to give Joseph the best chance to make it through to free agency. At least that's how I see it. Quote
Fan in San Diego Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Why would they just cut the guy? There must be an issue about something? Quote
