MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Kind of like the #1 that the Bills would get for Travis Henry I kept reading on here last season? The Pats are about as likely to get a 1st for Seymour as the Bills are to get one for Henry. The trades of 1st rounders haven't been going all too well as of late (Ricky Williams, Luvyeranus Coles, Bledsoe to a degree even though it netted the Bills another 1st in trading Price, which was also a bad trade) and trading away a 1st and giving him tons of money doesn't sit well with many teams. I'd love to play poker with someone who overplays their hand like Donahoe. Donahoe never overplays anything. He fleeced the Falcons for Price. And the Bledsoe trade as I mentioned recouped the 1st rounder spent on him, and was used to pick a future superstar (McGahee). Not only that, it brought credibility back to the Bills. WRT Henry, he's not going to give away a good RB for peanuts, and if that's "overplaying his hand," you don't have a concept of negotiations and/or value.
William The Conqueror Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Donahoe never overplays anything. 355422 You're right. He's handled the whole Henry thing perfectly... and the string of playoff appearances make your point. I think he's handled the Henry situation badly, especially with a glut of available RBs this offseason. It'll be interesting to see if he can salvage it. For the record, the Pats aren't going to let anyone shoot their way out of town, so Seymour probably won't be traded, IMO.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 You're right. He's handled the whole Henry thing perfectly... and the string of playoff appearances make your point. We were talking about "overplaying his hand" in player negotiations, bastid! I think he's handled the Henry situation badly, especially with a glut of available RBs this offseason. It'll be interesting to see if he can salvage it. Handled it badly? How? By not giving him away for a lousy 5th round pick in a weak draft? If that's your criteria, he's received offers of a 4th round pick for Travis right now, but is holding-out for a 3rd rounder. And with 4 teams still interested, as per Lenny P and others, he should be able to get that, and possibly more. For the record, the Pats aren't going to let anyone shoot their way out of town, so Seymour probably won't be traded, IMO. I don't think he'll be traded either, just saying that he won't fetch as much as you would think he should. Oh and it seems Harrison is unhappy with his contract as well, but has been practicing with the team. Wonder if he'll eventually hold-out as well?
IDBillzFan Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 You're right. You may now take everything you know about negotiating, write it down on a piece of paper, crumble that paper up and fit it comfortably up the ass of a gnat.

MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Can you practice with the team and THEN decide to hold out? We're DOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!! A player can hold-out anytime he wants. There are no rules for holding-out. Not unless Rosensleaze put out a manual.
William The Conqueror Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 I remember hearing about a Harrison holdout/unhappy with his contract report from somewhere on the net (KFFL?), but nothing substantive ever came of it. Harrison has seemed to buy into the Pats program fully, so I'd be pretty surprised if that was the case. Is Milloy unhappy with his deal yet?

Surprise! http://www.projo.com/patriots/content/proj...ts.2038f13.html Is Milloy unhappy with his deal yet? Not at all. He even spent most of the off-season in Buffalo and is in the best shape of his career. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050...?tbd1071049.asp

MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Great, that means he'll be looking fit and trim as we consistently see the back of his uniform chasing down opposing ball carriers. Don't know how much he's been doing that the past 2 years, seeing as the Bills were tied for 2nd in yards per rush last year and tied for 4th in 2003.

Have fun in Third Place this year!
Rayzer32 Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Did Ralph Wilson have a ceremony for all those glorious stats or what?Have fun in Third Place this year! 356225 I'll take finishing third in the AFC behind Indy and Pittsburgh.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Did Ralph Wilson have a ceremony for all those glorious stats or what? I'll accept your admission of defeat. Have fun in Third Place this year! Enjoy the past 4 years because it's over. Maybe someday the NFL will give the Bills a SB win (or two) and then they'll earn one on their own.
Thurman's Helmet Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 You're right, THOSE 4 years are over. This year isnt and as far as I (and every other rational minded person on Earth) can tell, the Patriots looked primed ready to defend whats theirs and what will be theirs for some time. Maybe someday you'll actually have solid insight into the NFL and how good teams win games.

Yeah they'll be "primed," but it won't happen. We can make a bet on it if you'd like, and if you're so confident about it happening, I'm sure you've already placed a sizable bet. Every successful run ends and the Pats aren't immune to that, much as your fantasies would like to tell you otherwise. Maybe someday you'll actually have solid insight into the NFL and how good teams win games. The Pats have shown that it's mostly coaching. They've had some major coaching upheaval. Anyone can see that. Well, almost anyone. Coaching losses plus player losses equals no SB this year. Then next year Pioli bolts, the players get a year older and the other teams get better. Get the picture? Ah but no, the Pats will win every SB until Belichick and Brady leave.

I'd give them a 2 or 3 year window to determine that. You're taking conjecture and spewing it out as fact. Each year you predict doom for the Pats and it comforts me that you're doing the same this year.

And as I said, every team's run ends. It's just the law of averages.

But mathmatically speaking, the law of averages is against them obviously.
