Has NFC caught up with AFC?

Four of the top teams in terms of records are NFC teams with QBs of Dak Prescott (2016, #135), Jalen Hurts ((2020, #53),  Brock Purdy (2022, #262), and Jared Goff (2016, #1).

 

Has NFC caught up to AFC?  A number of superstat QBs are not so super now.

 

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

• Cousins suffered a torn right Achilles tendon on Oct. 29 against the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings QB had surgery on Nov. 1 to repair the tendon.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

• On Nov. 5, Jones suffered a torn ACL in his right knee on a non-contact play. The Giants QB underwent successful surgery to repair the ACL on Nov. 22 and faces eight to 10 months of recovery.

 

Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

• Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the Jets' fourth snap of the season on Sept. 11. He was placed on injured reserve and had surgery to repair the Achilles. The injury and subsequent surgery was thought to be season-ending. However, Rodgers started practicing on a limited basis on Nov. 29, and neither Rodgers nor the Jets have ruled out a return to the field this season.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

• The Bengals quarterback suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist in the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 16. The team said Burrow had successful surgery on the wrist on Nov. 27.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

• Herbert needs surgery to repair a fracture to his broken right index finger and will be placed on injured reserve, ending his 2023 season, the team announced on Dec. 12. Herbert suffered the injury Week 14 against the Broncos.

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

• The Colts rookie QB suffered an AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 8. It was decided that Richardson would have surgery to repair the joint, ending his season.

Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

• The Browns' franchise quarterback had season-ending surgery to repair a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right (throwing) shoulder. He suffered the injury in the first half of the Browns' Nov. 12 win against the Ravens but stayed in and finished the game.

Injuries and bad GM moves in KC have allowed NFC to catch up. NFC East alone may have two teams better than all the AFC teams at this point.

i dont think so.  the NFC is still devoid of superstar QB play imo.   the AFC has just been a gauntlet this season,  add in the injuries and its about what  most of us figured the AFC would be,  a blood bath. 

 

mbe Purdy is up there,  dunno,  hes sitting behind mbe the best OLine in football,  with tons of weapons around him.   Dak is playing well,  at home,  thats it.   still not impressed with Hurts,  he gets pressured,  hes bad.   thats about it for NFC QBs atm.

The NFC primarily plays the NFC. The AFC the AFC. Thr AFC clearly has the better QB's and more good teams. The NFC is more top heavy.

the competition in the nfc has been worse.  In SF you need just a competent qb to win there. Therr losing streak occured when they were without their offense weapons.

 

for Indy getting a veteran was better for this season than ride with a rookie.

 

in the AFC the QB teams

 

jets— long term, Rodgers expect to play next 3 yrs.

Steelers— maybe if they get the right offense. Do t need to do a qb change

Broncos— spat between coach and qb 

Raiders— who knows

 

for NFC

Vikings— need a future wb

Bears— see a qb change?

Falcons

Bucs

Saints— need a young qb

Cardinals— maybe Kyler is traded

Rams— need a youth QB for future

Seahawks- need a young qb
