RiotAct Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 hell, we’ve won 3 so far this season! … granted two of them were at home against the relative dregs of the NFC, but still 🤣 1 Quote
Utah John Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 The two earlier one-score wins were gifted to the Bills, more or less. We beat the Giants despite not being penalized for a blatant DPI in the end zone at the end fo the game, and we beat the Bucs but could have lost if the Bucs WR had turned to see where their Hail Mary was going. Today's win was a big deal for many reasons, not least because it will maybe get the monkey off the Bills back about losing close games. 1 1 1 Quote

Broncos also gifted us a win when they missed a 41 yard FG. Unfortunately we returned the gift and gave them another shot with the 12 men penalty Would be nice to see our defense close out a 1 score game without such extreme levels of drama 2 1 1 Quote

Welcome to today's NFL, this is exactly how the league has set things up with the scheduling, the draft, everything; last minute, last game of the season drama, that's the whole point of selling advertising; you keep eyeballs on the game until the final minute of the final game. if you don't have the stomach for it, go watch bowling. There are far fewer ads there as well. 2 Quote

For the past seven months, I have using generative AI and a staff of interns. The assignment is to find a single sporting event in the history of mankind that doesn’t have judgement calls or plays that might have turned out differently. I want to see if this “gifting” is a rare event or part of the construct that applies to every game, every time. I am paying particular attention to teams that have great success in close games, looking for the “gifts” that led to the results. Forgive my statistical generalization, and recognize I’m not finished, but watching all players and every bounce on every play suggests “gifts” occur roughly 32,438 per game. I will ask my team to look into the two plays you reference and get back with the results. 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 The negative Nancy type poster won't see it as the Bills winning a one score game, but the Chiefs lost a one score game. That's the difference. 2 2 1 Quote
Scott7975 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Not sure what this thread is on a day that we just won in a one score game. So I guess I will comment with... I think McD is roughly .500 which is about where most teams usually are. I'm not really sure. Also the Bills seem to have rotating years on that where one year they win a lot of one score games and then the next they lose a lot. I am not really sure if that is normal as I don't pay that much detailed attention to other teams. Quote

"If" the refs rightly called the AJ Brown catch/fumble play in OT the Bills end the game and win, for example. 3 minutes ago, DaBillsFanSince1973 said: they are always out in droves after a win. Yup. And I like after wins the post titles with "It was a good win...but" as the title. Those are always guaranteed to be fun rides. 1 Quote
zow2 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 You would think by the law of averages,... they won yesterday and will win most of the one score games left this season, including any OTs. Quote
Mr. WEO Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 this again? they are 3-6 this season. every loss one score. Quote

The Bucs game argument is such an asinine, ridiculous argument to say the Bills were “gifted” the win because the guy didn’t turn around. Give me a break. As far as yesterday is concerned, outside of the one play everyone is talking about, the defense DID close out that game without “extreme levels of drama” if you wanted to call those gifted or lucky wins then fine, but then make sure you realize that every good team in the league also has 2-3 of those this season as well 1 1 Quote
peterpan Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 McD certainly did his dad dear to lose it but we still won!! Quote
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Wild season. There's a not-so-distant reality where we're 10-3 and fighting for the bye and another not-so-distant reality where we're 4-9 and everyone has already been fired. All things considered we're probably at neutral variance. 1 1 Quote
C.Biscuit97 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 So happy we won. But we make it way harder than it needs to be. Awful play calling at the end of the game. 40 minutes ago, SageAgainstTheMachine said: Wild season. Not a single wr knew where the ball was… that was probably one of the least likely to be completed Hail Marys of all time. I’d agree with the giants game but we also got screwed by the refs late in the game in the jets and pats games so it sort of evened out 1 Quote

But with 2 TOs and over a minute left, I have no doubt we would have went down the field and “had a chance” to take the lead again if that was the case. 1 Quote
