Low Positive Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 At first I was shocked, but then I looked at soccer player contracts. Ronaldo makes $200 million from the Saudis. Quote
US Egg Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Pretty much figured it be the Dodgers for a couple reasons. My new Ohtani jersey will be good for a decade. Quote
CowgirlsFan Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 INSANE!!! However this Texas Rangers fan is glad he's now OUT of The American League ⚾️ Quote
Warcodered Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 It's kind of crazy how much high end players make in baseball while the NFL makes $8 Billion more than the MLB a year. Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 The more you look at things, you have to come to the realization that Dr. Evil really screwed himself with poor estimating skills. 2 Quote
Another Fan Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 I say by the year 2027 we will see the first billion dollar baseball contract Quote
Your Brown Eye Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Angels dropped the ball with this one. I am not sure anyone outside of the Angels management and fanbase believed he would resign with them. Could have had a boatload of prospects at the trade deadline. And now.... Quote
mead107 Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Hopefully he helps out people from his hometown that need help Quote
QCity Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Got to love it when the small market teams get their guy. 1 Quote

There are some superstars coming from Japan in the next few years.......Yamamoto is the next one but not the last.........and look for each big market team to try to have their own so that they can cash in on that Japanese tv and marketing money. 1 1 Quote

Gugny Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 I guess this all boils down to what will define this as successful. If he contributes to one World Series championship season, will that do it? Quote

This is spot on but one could argue it is less supplemental to the Dodgers than it would have been to the supposed runner up, Toronto. It’s not like the Dodgers have ticket sales issues but I suppose they could increase the price per. Ohtani is a gigantic star anywhere and there is always room for more in LA but Toronto had other things to offer such as capturing the marketing landscape of an entire new country. Granted it’s only Canada but still. Interesting choice. Quote
4merper4mer Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 On the heels of Ohtani another huge one. RP Will Smith was on the Rangers this year, Astros last year and Braves before that. Three straight rings. I’d like to offer my preemptive congratulations to the Kansas City Roy…….. whichever team trades with the Royals at the deadline and acquires Smith. Quote
Buffalo Super Fan Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 I am glad the New York Yankees didn’t touch that contract. If Shohei Ohtani is that great and worth it. How come he couldn’t lead the Los Angeles Angels anywhere? Way to much money invested in one player for too long in length 10 years. Also if anyone wonders if the Buffalo Bisons ownership made the right decision for Buffalo baseball? I say yes no way could Buffalo MLB team could afford to pay that kind of money to star players. MLB is becoming like NBA with Super Teams and then the rest of the league. That’s not good for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians fan bases they have next to zero chance of winning which is really sad in my opinion. Go Bisons! Go Yankees!
