I think some people are upset cuz they wanted out of miller's contract, and now it looks like nothing is gonna come of this incident.

Von has not been charged yet. He’s only been arrested and released on bail.

Umm, in this country (even in Texas) you don't get arrested and taken into custody unless you have been charged with a crime.

You are conflating accused with charged. Von has not been charged. You can be arrested without being charged. Google it. It’s been discussed in other threads at length.

Anyone expecting a 35 year old coming back from an ACL to look good right away is delusional.  The hope was that he would be a positive contributor by the end of the season.  Forgetting about the off field stuff, people ragging on him for not playing well are just being unreasonable.

No, I'm not.  He's been charged with a crime.  It's possible that the charges will be dropped, but as of right now, he's been charged.  There are criminal charges pending against him.

The commentary on Von stood out to me, toward the beginning.

Sounds like Beane & the Front Office are confident that Von will not be charged with any crime and this could potentially be a misunderstanding.

Maybe we should be cautious this time around (ex: Araiza) and let things play out before crucifying Von...

Did you read Ryan O'Hollaran? https://buffalonews.com/sports/professional/nfl/bills/buffalo-bills-von-miller-terry-pegula-brandon-beane-sean-mcdermott-assault-accusations-ryan-ohalloran/article_d38a4634-9457-11ee-8826-23e0047be01a.html. Really trying to pick up where Sully left off.

What i liked is that when asked about playing time, Beane said the best will be on the field regardless of their name.  And he specifically said if Von is not one of the best players on gameday, to help win these crucial games, he won't be in there.

I heard that as an open door to keeping Von off the field. No denying he hasn’t been good. With those comments and his play thus far, easy to justify sitting him as a “football decision.”

Posting this from the other Von thread:

This is interesting. When Von’s GF released those texts in 2021, she released a statement saying

“In light of recent media reports regarding my relationship with Von, I feel that I need to address a couple of things. First and foremost, at no point in our relationship was there any type of physical abuse or violence by Von, whatsoever. For anyone to say otherwise, or to speculate such, is wrong.

“With regards to my social media posts, a part was misconstrued and taken out of context. I do regret making a private situation public, and in doing so, bringing unwanted attention to both Von and myself.”

That isn’t drastically different from the text “she” sent to the news station.

She leaked horrible… and I mean horrible, text messages from him and captioned them:

“My heart goes out to any woman/ or man who is or has ever dealt with mental, physical, or verbal abuse. Praying death on me and mine was enough!!”

**** both of them.

Google the screenshots if you want to know what he said.

Well the police did find bruising on the woman, I doubt she did that to herself. That’s enough to at least sit Von until the investigation concludes… and Beane talking about character is laughable in that press conference. They should bench him.

Giving him a vet rest day was suspicious,  I really hope they allow him to “go focus on the investigation,” and take about 5+ weeks off.

I'm more inclined to believe Von is more like the person who sent those texts than the person he portrays himself to be. I really don't believe anything coming out of this investigation. The women in these cases, especially with famous athletes magically forget what happened.

Poona played DE last season and wasn’t nearly as effective as he was in the middle.

They should be giving Jonathan Kingsley some reps of Von’s reps at DE

Neither should be getting many (if any) reps, DE should be a 50/56/57 show.

These two definitely have a very toxic history and she has a history of making abuse claims and then releasing a statement claiming it was a misunderstanding.

I legitimately didn’t know there were vet rest days coming off a bye week. Rest from what? That’s all they’ve been doing during their week off.

It’s a fundamental principle of criminal and constitutional law in the United States.

Maybe it’s a difference in “charges” being in his arrest warrant vs formal filing of “charges”?  I know it’s just a reporter, but the News article linked above says:

“I know the investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed and the reported victim has already downplayed the incident in an interview with a Dallas television station. But this was a chance for the Bills to show they will not tolerate a player putting himself in this type of situation. If anything, Miller is already guilty of poor judgment.”

Perhaps you have a legal background and have a better understanding than I do from just reading about Von’s situation.  I’m not trying to be argumentative.  Sorry if it came across that way.

This whole thing is so gross and making me not want to tune in on Sunday. Like I am really struggling with this. I totally get that The Bills are between a rock and a hard place right now, but some of their statements today, and the whole prayer circle with Von. WTF? I am a pretty openminded person, and very much willing to let a process play out, but there have been a million red flags with Von and his whole situation with his GF, going years back. I mean, the cops admitted she had injuries on par with what she accused him of, and he went on the lam, and then turned himself in. Again, I am usually a person who has no problem with waiting on more evidence, but this particular case has a ton of red flags involved, and yet the team is treating him like HE is the victim. The relationship is most certainly toxic, and they are probably both very bad for each other, but the way the team/management is treating this whole situation is gross to me.

If this was a one off, I could sort of understand it, a little, but we have this, the texts, the revenge porn threats, all these little things added up make me think he is NOT a good character guy. I am not expecting his teammates to just bail on him, especially since this case is still open, but to treat it like he was victimized is just..ugh. I also feel frustrated with HER. If he did the things she has claimed, and then recanted, it makes things so much harder in general for women and being believed in these types of situations.

I am saying I do not have experience to think I know better than coaches,

WTF are you doing on an internet message board if not to discuss the decision making and execution by everybody from the players, coaches, scouts, and general managers of an NFL team.

All of us are infinitely less qualified than just about everybody in every single professional sports league. But they get stuff wrong a lot. And discussing it is part of the fandom.

This is always the absolute weakest stance to take on every single topic about every single sports team.
