Beast Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) I mean, how can you argue against his success? With one of the best QB’s in the game, he has a failed trip to the AFC title game as his highmark. What more do you want? Edited December 1, 2023 by Beast 1 3 3 Quote

That is the wrong sum. We don't really know how satisfied Pegula is with Beane/McDermott until the season ends. That being said this report is much more inkeeping with what I am hearing from people who are / have been in the team's employ than the story at the weekend that the seat is warm. It would take them collapsing down the stretch for McDermott to get fired after this season. Whether that is right or wrong that is what I believe is the case. Pegula is only going to change regime very reluctantly and if he has an option not to, he won't. 1 Quote

Lionel Hutz Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 The Pegula family has no clue how to run a sports franchise. They have horribly mismanaged the Sabres and now it looks like they are doing the same with Bills. 5 Quote

If Chan Gailey had Josh Allen we'd be saying the same thing about him. The QB that one inherits plays such a huge role in a coaches "success" Chan Gailey with Jish Allen would have ended the drought and his offense would have been tailored around Josh's strengths. And I think Chan would have brought home a Lombardi with Allen. And I don't consider Chan Gailey a great coach but he knew how to get the most from his players on offense. 2 1 Quote
Ray Stonada Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Makes sense for Pegula to say this right now as there is still time to save the season, by beating the Chiefs. Not sticking up for McD would send the message that the Bills are giving up. And, the team we’ve seen the last two weeks is a playoff team. (Unlike what we saw against the Jets, Jags, Giants, Pats and Broncos.) Doesn’t mean he feels the same in January when reviewing the whole season. Quote
Doc Brown Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Money talks which is why the contract extensions before the season told me McD was never in jeopardy of losing his job. Especially for an owner who holds the Steelers model in such high regard. I just hope we can keep Brady on as OC and nobody snags him as a Head Coach. Quote
billieve420 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Anything can happen between now and end of the season. However, can’t see Pegula firing McDermott till after the season if it happens. However, if McDermott is brought back next year he should most definitely be on the hot seat. Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 For a successful coach like McDermott I figured it would take consecutive years of missing the playoffs to get fired. But his seat is definitely hot next year. 1 Quote

Sympathy would be the correct word for my experience. I was getting some food, and the guy serving just kept looking at me saying, im sorry man, I'm sorry. I had no idea what he was talking about until he pulled up his sleeve and I saw the eagles logo. He was truly sympathetic and said I thought we were going to lose that game. I just politely told him, I figured we was going to lose by the 3rd quarter while we had the lead, he couldn't understand that lol Did he ask if you had an Eagles or Jest shirt underneath? Maybe from your response he thought you bet against Bills with some spread and you lost the bet. Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 We are so *****. We are going nowhere with McDummy. He can't even stop repeating mistakes in the same season, let alone repeating mistakes from previous seasons. Totally overloaded as HC/DC, his in-game decision making has completely hit rock bottom this season. Wastes TOs, horrible challenges (the 9 yard challenge on first down against CIN, JESUS!!!), benches Cook and costs us the Broncos game, continues to let Gabe play when he keeps dropping passes, ARGH!! I could keep going, but I may burst a blood vessel. We are so *****. 1 4 Quote

Chan Gailey does not have the energy to be a head coach but he would be a good Senior Offense Assistant and I recommended such last year when OC was promoted. 1 Quote

If Terry thinks Sean is some kind of Tomlin coach, then he's losing it. I guess as the owner he values regular season continuity over any semblance of going deep in the playoffs. McDermott is a very predictable coach. He will continue to make the same mistakes over & over. 1 1 Quote

McDipshit thought it prudent to replace a pedestrian Tyrod Taylor with (checks notes) Nathan Peterman. And also punted to the Colts in OT in a game that would’ve kept us out of the playoffs again. But go on… Lame. LAME! LAME! Decision was made by OC Rick Dennison and he lost his job due to it. Rick Dennison was signed by Coach McD because he believed he needed OC with experience since all of his experience was on defense side of ball. Quote

I don't know what makes you think this. The history of Chan is he runs HIS offense wherever he goes. I have never seen him tailor it to his players. What he does is installs his scheme and then tries to find the players to fit. Fitz was a GREAT fit for Chan's scheme. They have had success together in 3 spots - Bills, Jets, Dolphins. But his OC record with other QBs is spotty at best since the 90s. I love what Chan did with the offense when he was here. He got the most out of a pretty average group. But his scheme has fundamental issues too and it is the law of diminishing returns. At some point those issues would show up even if he had Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs and Dalton Kincaid and he wouldn't have changed it because he never did. He tried to force Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman into it in Dallas with all their accolades and rings. And if we wanna talk about McDermott's questionable hires in Dennison and Dorsey then we need to remember Chan made two disastrous DC hires. Including Wannstedt who underachieved his talent as much as any Bills coach in history. Edited December 1, 2023 by GunnerBill Quote
