Special K Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 10 minutes ago, mannc said: It's been reported that there is a clause in Miller's contract that allows the Bills to void the remainder of his contract if he violates the league's personal conduct policy, but I'm not sure what sort of dead cap hit that would entail. I would hope there would be no dead cap hit given the circumstances. The Bills aren't the Dolphins or Chiefs, teams OK with keeping domestic violence abusers on their roster, he's got to be gone as soon as possible no matter what. Quote

boyst Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 https://www.espn.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4744681/revisiting-details-of-hernandez-contract Quote For those asking what the salary cap charge would be in the event the Patriots ever decided to terminate the contract, the charge would be the acceleration of the $12.5 million signing bonus. If that happened in 2013, Hernandez would count $2.55 million against the salary cap, and then in 2014 would carry a cap charge of $7.5 million from the remaining proration on the signing bonus. One other factor to consider: A club can recover bonus money and avoid a cap hit if a player violates one of the league's personal conduct policies or defaults on contract language. 1 Quote

Someone upthread indicated that the Bills would still be stuck with the dead cap hit, just as the Raiders were in the Ruggs situation. I'm sure the team is thoroughly investigating all the ins and outs here. Quote
Bob Jones Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I read somewhere today that the woman he assaulted was his SEVEN YEAR companion. If the latter is true, then that is really, really sad. Yes, I know it's sad/bad that (if true), he did this to any woman, but IMHO, there would be a difference if it was some escort or ONS vs a woman he obviously loves/loved, and has a LTR with. Quote

Team just has to fold up shop for years? Quote

He was convicted and the Pats still had to pay him. I believe that's why they have the clause in most contracts related to suspensions/arrests/convictions in pretty much every contract now. You can tell the people (not everyone) that are just jumping for joy over this because they think it's an easy out on this contract. Same people would be hating it if Von was playing at his elite level. I'm disgusted either way if this is true. Some guys are turning this situation into "fire everyone" "clean house" "the organization is a mess." "what can we save on his contract" "easy out." etc.. This is just disgusting in itself. First day on the internet? You’ll love it!! 3 Quote
