OBXBILLSFAN Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 You gotta beat the best to get to the Super Bowl, anyway, so bring 'em on. Worrying, or whining, about strength of schedule is a waste of time.

richNjoisy Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 This is a bit deceptive for the Bills, Fish and Jets since these teams are the only teams to have to play the Patriots twice. In my opinion, our schedule is fantastic for a newbie QB - lots of winnable games AT HOME to start with the tougher games coming after JP has gotten his feet wet. Bring It On!!
Ramius Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 S.O.S. really dosnt mean as much as it used to with all the parity...you never how a team is going to do this season...last year SD would have appeared as an easily winnable game and lower your sos, but i guarantee, no team was in a hurry to play them...
BuffOrange Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 This is a bit deceptive for the Bills, Fish and Jets since these teams are the only teams to have to play the Patriots twice. 353840 Plus the Dolphins don't get to play the Dolphins.
Cugalabanza Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 The entire AFC East is in the top seven. Whaddya gonna do? Tough division.
flomoe Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Did anyone notice that the NFC has only one team that plays a schedule that is .500. Also, the top 15 teams are in the AFC and only the Titans play a below .500 (.492) schedule. It kind of shows who is the dominant conference. Even back in the late 80's and early 90's, the NFC wasn't nearly as dominant as the AFC is today. Funny too that the Super Bowl runner-up plays a .453 schedule. Goes to show that when the Bills play the NFC south (probably the best NFC conference) this year, no one is going to terribly worried. The Falcons aren't nearly as good as their record showed last year.
Alaska Darin Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 SoS based on last season is meaningless because the NFL tends to change so much every season (with the exception of the G.D. Patriots). No matter what, there aren't many off weeks and teams have to be ready to go at the whistle.
Rubes Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 True, Darin, but as flomoe pointed out, it's interesting that the top 11 easiest schedules all belong to NFC teams.

Rubes Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Mostly because they play in the NFC, methinks. 354001 Well, yeah, that was my point... ...even though things do change considerably from one year to the next, the NFC still sucks.

I put together a chart and wondered why other than not wanting to make NFC look like a sick dog that a sports media site hasn't done more with this. Another way to represent this data: http://members.cox.net/billswatch/2005_Cal...f_Schedule.html See how obvious it is NFC is weaker conference?

Bring It On!! 353840 Cinci, Balt, and Cleveland all have to play Pittsburgh twice -- a team that had a better record than the Patsies. Only Baltimore is in the top 7 -- at #6. AFCEast is the toughest division and has been most of the time over the last couple of decades.
