I think they were all immigrants that put the roof on my house, for instance. How about the agricultural feilds? The meat packing plants? You think Trump would be stupid enough to go and round up those workers? Trump already is backing off his promise to make groceries cheaper, so he will leave those workers alone

And if they're working and keeping out of trouble, they probably will be left alone. 1

Niagara Bill Posted December 14 Posted December 14 1 hour ago, Tiberius said: Things are going pretty good actually. Trump is inheriating a super strong economy and these immigrants are filling all the job openings. Trump won't want to ruin Biden's fine economy by unnaturally choking off the flow of labor. Get government out of the way and let the laws of economics take over. Why can't the flow of labor that you mention be legal immigration, rather than illegal migration.
Tiberius Posted December 14 Posted December 14 45 minutes ago, Doc said: And if they're working and keeping out of trouble, they probably will be left alone. Most immigrants, legal and illegal, do. I bet they will be left alone, there won't be a mass deportation, another Trump lie 1 minute ago, Niagara Bill said: Why can't the flow of labor that you mention be legal immigration, rather than illegal migration. Tiberius Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Will Trump disappoint his base or will he go through with wrecking these people's lives to satisfy the lust of rat f'n these innocents. https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/trump-immigration-work-permit-policy-business-impact-0ecadef5 Nate Koetje, chief executive of an electrical contractor based in Grand Rapids, Mich., would like to hire as many as 200 workers next year. Despite a somewhat cooling labor market, he said he would be lucky to find 150. So if President-elect Donald Trump follows through on his pledge to eliminate programs that provide temporary work permits to immigrants with no permanent legal status, Koetje’s growing company would face even more staffing challenges. The company, Feyen Zylstra, now employs two people whose ability to continue working is at risk. “Though the numbers are small, these individuals play a key role in the success of a company like ours,” Koetje said, adding that increasing opportunities for legal immigration is important for the continued growth of companies like his, and he sees it as a bipartisan issue. Mass deportations are the most prominent of Trump’s immigration pledges, but a more urgent threat looms for millions of immigrants and their employers: losing access to legal work. Trump has promised to eliminate several programs that offer deportation protections and work authorization to immigrants in the country illegally or whose visas have expired. As many as 3.3 million immigrants covered by the programs could lose their ability to work, according to the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan think tank.

This way of thinking is pathetic because you ignore all the evil of the world and deny that in many cities these immigrants are not assimilating and have no desire to do so. Lastly since you don't know anyone who has come the country legally, I will speak for all the ones I know well, they hate the open border because they left the crappy place and Biden is bringing back to them 1

His final step will be create a reasonable process for those "needed" workers to come to the country. The current situation is absurd, a young Indian who is trying to come to college can't come legally but if he simply came across the border last year he could stay. 1

Agreed, My sister-in-law is from Brazil, came here legally 25 years ago and became a citizen a few years after. The processes that she had to go through to become a citizen were long and rigorous include a few trip to New York CIty to the Brazilian consulate. Their whole family went to Brazil for a couple weeks last year and it took weeks of calls and paperwork to get that lined up. Why do the ones that crossed over illegally feel like they are entitled to bypass that process? Even if they are decent hardworking people, they are still bypassing the legal immigration rules and not paying our taxes. I am for deporting most of them, but for those that want to stay, they should to start the legal process right away and pay back taxes. It is only fair. if they want to be treated like everyone else, that should include paying the same taxes and being subject to the same laws. I have always thought that making the legal process easier (This means less red tape in the process not bogus mass "asylum" workarounds) in exchange for cracking down and deporting those who try to sneak around that process. Every other country in the world has a strict border, why are we "racist" for wanting the same thing? Edited December 15 by dgrochester55 1
Tiberius Posted December 15 Posted December 15 More: Those at risk include people from war-torn countries such as Afghanistan and Ukraine as well as people brought to the U.S. illegally as children, often called Dreamers. Many immigrants with temporary status, known as TPS, enjoy deportation protections—and work authorization—because the government has determined their home countries are too dangerous. Many more entered the country through a program set up by the Biden administration that rewarded them with work permits for coming legally rather than attempting to cross the southern border. Immigrants whose legal work status is at risk work in sectors that range from healthcare and hospitality to manufacturing and education, for small businesses and for large employers such as Eli Lilly, Amazon and Microsoft. Some are recent arrivals; others have been in the workforce for a decade. Their removal from the workforce—which, because of the intricacies of federal immigration law, would take months or more to play out—would create fresh challenges for employers already struggling to fill open positions. It would also plunge millions of families into instability, opening them up to possible deportation with few legal options to challenge the decision. “It will have an enormous impact across the U.S. in a wide range of industries, regardless of whether those people get deported or wind up leaving the U.S.,” said Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, a nonpartisan advocacy group. Chris Thomas, an immigration attorney in Denver, is working with one social-media company that has more than 1,000 employees whose legal work status could vanish, in roles that range from marketing to computer analyst. “A lot of other companies are expressing the same concern,” Thomas said 2 hours ago, Orlando Buffalo said: Trump will deport the people who are living on the dole and the criminals first, after that he will simply make it harder for the others illegal to stay by cracking down on the companies.
